Wärtsilä Corporation in Trieste, Italy, is seeking an Engine Automation Technical Expert to strengthen our Technical Services Automation team. You will become a key expert in embedded engine controls and automation systems, supporting customers worldwide.

The role combines hands-on troubleshooting, software configuration, field support, testing and product development, with travel about 25% and a partially remote hybrid work arrangement.

Competenze

• Bachelor/Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems or related field.
• Experience in technical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Experience with embedded control or automation systems.
• Strong analytical mindset and systematic approach to technical investigations.
• Good communication skills and proficiency in English.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

Mansioni

• Provide high-level technical support to internal and external customers remotely and on-site.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex automation and control system issues.
• Conduct site surveys, commissioning support, and field investigations worldwide.
• Simulate and analyze field issues in our automation laboratory using physical and virtual test environments.
• Perform root cause analyses and support product reliability improvements.
• Manage engine automation software configurations, upgrades, backups, and system modifications.
• Collect and analyze field feedback and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Prepare technical documentation including service bulletins, manuals, investigation reports, and survey reports.
• Initiate, lead, and support product and process development projects.
• Collaborate with R&D and other technical departments to solve problems and enhance product performance.
• Support product introductions, validation, and testing activities for next-generation automation platforms.
• Act as a technical reference point for product and field-related expertise across the organization.
