Job summary

HHLA PLT Italy S.r.l. seeks an Automation & IT Expert to own part of end-to-end automation from design to commissioning at Trieste.

You will bridge operations, automation, IT and safety, working with the Operations Implementation Team, Safety and Asset teams, and external suppliers. You will translate concepts into robust automation solutions, define requirements across flows, and ensure integration with existing HHLA PLT Italy IT and automation systems, while upholding safety and governance

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, IT, Automation or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in automation and/or IT in complex operations.
• Proven experience designing processes and delivering automation projects.
• Very good command of English; Italian language is a plus.
• Strong understanding of safety in automated environments and relevant regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to work in a project-driven environment and drive 실행able solutions.
• Proactive, self-starter mindset with process- and logic-driven approach.
• Valid EU work permit and willingness to relocate to Trieste on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Translate the automation concept into concrete technical solutions for terminal operations.
• Contribute to the definition and implementation of automation & IT requirements across flows.
• Support automation topics across projects and automated areas.
• Interface with internal and external stakeholders (suppliers, partners, internal departments).
• Apply best practices in automation, IT and safety in an automated port environment.
• Identify risks and bottlenecks early and propose mitigations.
• Align automation requirements with the Asset team and ensure integration with IT systems.
• Promote safety, security and corporate governance; report improvement opportunities.
