Job summary

Leonardo in Rome is seeking a Geospatial Platform Engineer to design, develop and operate scalable geospatial software for EO data across cloud and hybrid environments.

You’ll join the Chief Technological Innovation Office and work with architects, engineers and external partners to translate requirements into production-ready solutions, with a growth path toward ownership of platform components.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree is required or equivalent experience.
• Up to 5 years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering.
• Strong Python development skills and REST API experience.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and microservice patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate scalable geospatial platform components.
• Create reusable APIs, data services and catalogues.
• Apply open geospatial standards (STAC, OGC) for interoperability.
• Work with cloud-native formats and tools (COG, Zarr, GDAL, Xarray).
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Collaborate with architects, scientists and external partners.
