Job summary

Leonardo S.p.A. is seeking a Geospatial Platform Engineer to design, implement, and operate scalable AI-enabled EO platforms from our Rome office.

You will work with AI engineers and R&D teams to transform prototypes into production-grade services, focusing on cloud-native data stacks, RAG systems, and geospatial workflows. The role offers a clear growth path toward technical ownership of the platform stack, with hybrid working arrangements and exposure to cutting-edge geospatial and AI

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Up to 5 years in software engineering, cloud platforms or platform engineering.
• Strong Python development skills and modern web/API experience.
• Familiar with cloud platforms and container orchestration.
• English and Italian language skills.

Responsibilities

• Introduce reusable AI capabilities across e-GEOS products and platforms.
• Transform prototypes into secure, scalable platform services.
• Build data and knowledge pipelines for EO data and metadata.
• Develop AI-assisted search, analysis, and automation capabilities.
• Develop REST APIs and microservices for geospatial data and AI services.
• Support deployment on Kubernetes-based hybrid and cloud environments.
• Contribute to orchestration of AI agents, RAG, and LLMs.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Collaborate to transition prototypes into production-grade solutions.
• Investigate performance and integration issues across platform components.
• Draft and maintain technical docs and architecture diagrams.
• Evaluate emerging cloud-native geospatial technologies.
