Job summary

Leonardo is seeking a Junior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join the Digital Solution and IT department in Rome. You will support Linux/Windows server operations, virtualization, security, and geospatial platform infrastructure in a cross-functional, high‑availability environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, collaboration with IT teams and vendors, system hardening, monitoring and automation to ensure secure, resilient services for Earth Observation and Defence applications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in IT infrastructure and systems administration.
• Strong Linux and Windows Server expertise.
• Experience with virtualization, networking, storage and security fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve Linux and Windows Server infrastructures.
• Administer virtualization, compute, networking, storage and containers.
• Ensure secure operation of infra for Earth Observation and Defence services.
• Manage identity, access control and network segmentation.
• Implement system hardening and vulnerability remediation.
• Develop monitoring, automation and configuration-management processes.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and coordinate remediation.
• Support migrations, upgrades and capacity planning.
