Job summary

Leonardo’s Space Division, through e-GEOS, is building cloud-native geospatial AI platforms with RAG, vector DBs and GFMs to power EO applications from Rome. You’ll join a growing team shaping platform design and architecture for scalable AI-enabled EO solutions.

The role is an early-career path with growth toward technical ownership of the cloud-native geospatial and AI stack, reporting to a technical lead in Rome.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Up to 5 years’ experience in software engineering or platform engineering.
• Strong Python development skills and modern web architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and DevOps principles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with engineers and scientists.

Responsibilities

• Introduce reusable AI capabilities across EO platforms and services.
• Transform prototypes into secure, scalable production services.
• Build data and knowledge pipelines combining EO data and metadata.
• Develop AI-assisted search, automation, reporting and decision support.
• Build REST APIs and microservices for geospatial data and AI services.
• Support deployment on Kubernetes-based hybrid and cloud environments.
• Contribute to orchestration of AI agents, RAG and LLMs.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to productionize prototypes.
• Investigate performance and integration bottlenecks and document architectures.
