Job summary

Kerten Hospitality seeks a Hotel Development Intern for Italy. You will identify opportunities, conduct market research, and build a network with owners, developers, and investors to support feasible hotel projects.

You will prepare analyses, reports, and pitches, coordinating outreach and maintaining records while collaborating with internal teams to move opportunities forward. Based in Italy with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in hotel development, real estate, hospitality, business development, or related field.
• Strong understanding of Italian hospitality and hotel development market.
• Existing relationships in Italy with owners, developers, investors, brokers, or consultants is an advantage.
• Strong research and analytical skills to evaluate market information.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong presentation and report-writing abilities for internal and external stakeholders.
• Highly organized, self-driven, able to manage multiple opportunities remotely.
• Fluency in English and Italian preferred.
• Based in Italy with ability to travel for meetings and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Source and identify hotel development opportunities across Italy via market research and stakeholder engagement.
• Assess potential development factors: commercial, operational, financial, and strategic.
• Build and maintain a network of hotel owners, developers, investors, brokers, and consultants.
• Support preliminary financial feasibility assessments and site evaluations.
• Conduct market and competitor research to spot partnerships and high-value prospects.
• Prepare reports, presentations, pitch decks, and market analyses for projects.
• Coordinate outreach, meetings, and follow-ups with potential partners.
• Maintain records of opportunities, contacts, and project pipelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams to progress opportunities through early stages.

ABOUT THE ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESSource and identify hotel and lodging development opportunities across Italy through market research, networking, and engagement with owners, developers, consultants, brokers, and other key stakeholders.

• Research and assess potential hotel development opportunities, considering commercial, operational, financial, and strategic factors.

• Build and maintain a network of key stakeholders, including hotel owners, developers, investors, brokers, landlords, and consultants.

• Support preliminary financial feasibility assessments and site evaluations for prospective hotel projects.

• Conduct market and competitor research to identify strategic partnerships, emerging opportunities, and high-value development prospects.

• Prepare professional reports, presentations, pitch decks, market analyses, and internal briefing materials for prospective hotel projects.

• Coordinate outreach, meetings, follow-ups, and other business development activities with potential partners and stakeholders.

• Maintain accurate records of development opportunities, contacts, project pipelines, and ongoing discussions.

• Collaborate with internal teams to support the evaluation and progression of potential hotel development opportunities from initial research through to the next stages of development.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in hotel development, real estate, hospitality, business development, investment, consulting, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of, or demonstrated interest in, the Italian hospitality and hotel development market.

• Existing relationships or exposure to hotel owners, developers, investors, brokers, consultants, or real estate networks in Italy is an advantage.

• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate market information and identify potential development opportunities.

• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong presentation and report-writing skills, with the ability to prepare clear and professional materials for internal and external stakeholders.

• Highly organised and self-driven, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities independently in a remote environment.

• Strong ownership mindset, proactive approach, and ability to identify opportunities rather than relying solely on assigned leads.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

• Fluency in English and Italian is preferred.

• Based in Italy, with the ability to travel for meetings and site visits when required.
