Overview

When you join Amazon as an Area/Shift Manager, you’ll gain experience leading a large and diverse team to ensure your area keeps pace with demand. This hands-on role lets you learn about the complexity of operations at a global business and what it takes to make everything run seamlessly. You’ll drive productivity while working closely with colleagues to address challenges, so no two days are the same.

Key responsibilities
  • Promote a culture of safety and wellbeing
  • Analyse and implement corrective actions to ensure quality and productivity are consistently high and business objectives are met across all shifts
  • Support and lead a team and handle administrative work while building and supporting a strong team culture
  • Analyse performance and suggest process improvements to optimise work and improve customer service
  • Collaborate with other managers to standardise shift processes
A day in the life

You’ll work shifts and be based at one of our operational sites. Your main focus will be to maintain safety standards within your team and across your site, and you’ll monitor and maintain process efficiency. Your days will include prioritising routine team management and daily operational tasks, alongside activities such as individual escalations, process improvement work and wide-scale operational contingency planning.

As a key part of the operations team, you’ll work with colleagues in other teams and external partners to meet customer demands and targets. This includes analysing data and performance metrics with leaders in your area and discussing the operational pros and cons of technical improvements with engineers.

About the team

Customer Fulfilment (CF) is the foundation of Amazon’s operations, handling a large volume of orders daily. CF teams work in Fulfilment Centres, often referred to as the “First Mile,” where dynamic inventory is managed to facilitate rapid deliveries around the clock. Our teams include a diverse mix of roles, from physical product handling to data analysis that helps the business make informed decisions.

Basic Qualifications
  • University degree (Bachelor's or Master's), completed before start date
  • Advanced proficiency in written and verbal English and local language
  • Relevant experience in performing data analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business/Management, Engineering or related field
  • Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
  • Experience in a logistical working environment
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment
