Siemens Energy is seeking a Design Engineer for Medium Voltage Transformer Stations to shape the future of energy infrastructure. You will design and optimize both prefabricated and site-built MV/LV substations for utilities, industry, and data centers—ensuring every solution meets international standards and exceeds customer expectations.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–7+ years of experience in MV distribution systems and transformer stations.
• Proficient with AutoCAD/EPLAN and electrical calculation tools ETAP/DIgSILENT.
• Structured, detail oriented with strong problem solving; cross-functional work.
• Experience with prefabricated substations and data center/industrial power distribution; English and Italian mandatory.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Design MV/LV transformer stations (10–36 kV / 0.4–1 kV), preparing single line diagrams, protection schemes, and cable layouts.
• Specify key components like power transformers, MV switchgear (AIS/GIS/RMU), and LV switchboards, performing load flow, short-circuit, and voltage drop calculations.
• Optimize layouts for footprint, cooling, accessibility, and safety, integrating enclosures, cable entry systems, and fire protection.
• Ensure compliance with IEC standards, local grid codes, and support certification and type testing.
• You collaborate with sales, project management and suppliers, reviewing drawings, technical submittals, and providing technical clarifications.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–7+ years of experience in MV distribution systems and transformer stations, ideally with utilities, OEMs, or EPC contractors.
• Proficient with AutoCAD/EPLAN and electrical calculation tools like ETAP or DIgSILENT.
• You have a structured, detail-oriented approach, strong problem-solving skills, and enjoy working cross-functionally with sales, production, and project teams.
• Experience with prefabricated substations, data center or industrial power distribution is a strong advantage.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Italian is mandatory.

The total compensation package for this position, including both fixed and variable components, ranges between € 65.000 – € 85.000 gross per year.

Salary ranges for this role are provided in accordance with applicable local legislation. The stated range is based on the Italian labour market.

Where a role may be performed in multiple locations in Italy or abroad, compensation will vary depending on factors such as market conditions, including the local cost of living, as well as experience and qualifications.
