Hyatt Thompson Rome cerca un Assistente Sommelier per curare esperienze enologiche eccezionali e elevare l’offerta F&B. Il ruolo richiede conoscenze tecniche enologiche, orientamento al cliente e capacità di ispirare ospiti e colleghi con conoscenza, storytelling e servizio raffinato.

Responsabile di gestire liste dei vini, abbinamenti, formazione del personale e controllo inventario, operando in un contesto di hotel di lusso. Disponibilità a lavorare su turni in ambiente internazionale.

Competenze

• Studi turismo o enologia preferiti.
• Certificazione enologica riconosciuta (WSET/AIS/CMS o equivalente).
• Precedente esperienza in hotel di lusso o ristorazione di alto livello.
• Forte conoscenza di vini, distillati e abbinamenti cibo-vino.
• Eccellenti capacità comunicative, interpersonali e di vendita, anche in una lingua straniera.
• Capacità di upsell mantenendo la soddisfazione del cliente.
• Madrelingua o fluente in italiano e inglese; eventuali lingue aggiuntive sono un plus.
• Disponibilità ad apprendere e lavorare sotto pressione.

• Assist the Manager with source, purchase, and manage wine inventory while maintaining optimal stock levels
• Ensure proper storage, cellaring, handling, and serving standards for all wines
• Collaborate on monitoring wine costs and pricing strategies to support profitability
• Provide expert wine recommendations and food pairings, enhancing the guest dining experience
• Engage with guests through knowledgeable and approachable conversation, creating memorable wine experiences
• Conduct wine tastings and special wine-pairing events
• Ensure refined presentation and exceptional service standards across all outlets
• Train the Staff on wine knowledge, serving techniques, and pairing recommendations
• Lead educational tastings and training sessions for the restaurant Team
• Develop wine service protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards
• Ensure compliance with all local and national alcohol laws and regulations
• Maintain high standards of wine presentation, service quality, and Guest experience
• Stay up to date with wine trends, emerging regions, and industry best practices

About the role: Reporting to the Head of Sommelier, you will support all Food & Beverage outlets with passion and creativity. You will work closely with the F&B leadership team to manage wine lists, recommend food and wine pairings, assist waiters and the Sommelier team with service preparation, oversee glassware par stock. You will also manage inventory and remain highly visible in operations to ensure an attentive and distinctive Guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Quality Control

• Ensure compliance with all local and national alcohol laws and regulations
• Maintain high standards of wine presentation, service quality, and Guest experience
• Stay up to date with wine trends, emerging regions, and industry best practices

Main Duties

• Serve all beverage orders professionally, using correct equipment and procedures
• Take beverage orders and apply upselling techniques when appropriate
• Recommend wines based on guest preferences and menu selections
• Ensure wine lists are updated and sales records are accurately maintainedControl stock levels of wines and beverages
• Support food service operations when required

What You Bring

• Tourism or Enology studies preferred
• Certification from a recognized wine institution (WSET, AIS, Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent)
• Previous experience in a luxury hotel or fine dining environment
• Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, and food pairings
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and sales skills, also in a foreign language
• Ability to upsell while enhancing guest satisfaction
• Native or Fluent Italian and English. Any additional language is a plus
• Willingness to learn and ability to perform under pressure
• Strong initiative and a service-driven attitude
