Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a skilled welding specialist to support fabrication activities in pressure vessel and heat exchanger projects. The candidate should have extensive metallurgy knowledge and hands-on experience with welding procedures, qualification tests, and relevant codes.

You will assess welding consumables, edge preparation, preheat/ PWHT requirements, and oversee NDT and mechanical testing. Excellent communication in English is required for coordination across teams and sites in

Qualifications

• Knowledge of welding metallurgy of various steels and alloys.
• Proficiency in industry codes and international standards.
• Knowledge of welding processes SMAW to ESW.
• Experience with welding procedure and welder qualification in groove/fillet and related joints.
• Understanding of welding basics: preheat, interpass, PWHT, distortion control, consumable handling.
• Ability to select weld edge preparation and welding consumables based on productivity/feasibility.
• Experience in manufacturing of pressure vessels, reactors, and heat exchangers.
• Awareness of weld/base metal failure analysis.
• Awareness of mechanical testing and NDT methods.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Job description

• Knowledge on welding metallurgy of C-Mn steel, CrMo/CrMoV steel, MnMoNi steel, Stainless steel (Austenitic, Duplex), Nickel based alloys (Inconel, Incolloy)
• Proficiency in codes (ASME Sec IIC, Sec IX, Sec VIII Div 1 / 2; EN ISO15614 / EN ISO 9609) and International standards (API 934-A/C/E; API 582; WRC 452; ASTM A262, G146)
• Knowledge of various welding processes (SMAW,SAW,GTAW,GMAW,FCAW,SASC,ESW etc)
• Practical experience on Welding procedure and welder qualification in groove/Fillet, Weld overlay and Tube # Tubesheet type of joints
• Good understanding of welding basics (Preheat/Interpass/DHT/ISR/PWHT/weld defect/distortion control/ welding consumable baking/storage/handling)
• Knowledge / experience in selection of weld edge preparation, welding processes and welding consumable based on productivity / feasibility / resource availability.
• Knowledge on manufacturing of Pressure Vessel, Reactor and Heat Exchanger
• Awareness on failure analysis of weld / base metal defects
• Awareness on mechanical test (Tensile, Bend, Impact, Hardness etc), NDT (PT, MT, RT, UT)
• Should have good verbal and written communication skill
