Job summary

Lloyds Steels is seeking an Sr. Welding Engineer to review customer welding specifications, estimate consumables, and manage procurement. The role requires ASME/ AWS knowledge, and hands-on oversight of WPS/PQR/WPQ preparation and welder qualifications.

The candidate will coordinate with labs and third-party inspectors, ensure equipment calibration, and support audits while maintaining strict quality controls across welding operations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical / Metallurgy Engineering from a reputed college.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Welding Engineer.
• ASNT Level II in RT, PT, MT, UT.
• Good knowledge of ASME codes for welding requirements.
• SAP knowledge will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications and extract welding requirements.
• Prepare welding consumable estimates and indent for procurement.
• Prepare MTS/TDC for welding consumables.
• Ensure welding machine calibration and measurement accuracy.
• Prepare WPS/PQR/WPQ per ASME Sec IX, AWS D1.1.
• Coordinate with labs and TPI for WPS/PQR testing.
• Prepare Heat Treatment requests (PWHT) for various jobs.
• Face ASME audits for welding compliance.
• Maintain welding material and equipment inventories.
• Oversee welder qualifications and training.

Job Description Of Sr. Welding Engineer

• 1. Reporting to Welding Manager / QA-QC Manager
• 2. To review customer specifications and extract customer specific welding requirements
• 3. Welding consumable estimation.
• 4. Prepare indent for welding consumable requirements with quality and quantity.
• 5. Prepare MTS / TDC for welding consumable purchase.
• 6. Receipt inspection of welding consumables as per approved MTS/TDC.
• 7. Ensure welding machine calibration and other measuring instruments used in welding.
• 8. Preparation of WPS/PQR/WPQ as per ASME Sec IX, AWS D1.1.
• 9. Welder training and control of welders including welder qualifications, welder continuity, maintenance
• 10. Qualification of Welding procedures under TPI witness and record maintenance.
• 11. Prepare Weld & Test Plan, Weld Map and submit for client approval.
• 12. Ensure PTC requirements and its Testing.
• 13. Face ASME Audits for welding.
• 14. Thorough knowledge of ASME and other international codes / standards like AWS D1.1.
• 15. Good knowledge of welding processes like SMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW, GMAW, etc..
• 16. Knowledge of welding automation.
• 17. Ensure and verification of use of right welding process, welding consumables and welder / welding ope
• 18. Ensure proper storage and baking of welding consumables.
• 19. Daily spot checks / monitoring in shop of welding processes for reduction in welding defects.
• 20. Overall control of welding material, welding machines, electrode baking/ holding ovens and welders.
• 21. Coordinate with various labs and TPI for WPS/PQR testing.
• 22. Preparation of Heat Treatment request / PWHT / Stress Relieving Cyle of various jobs.

Qualification

• 1. Degree in Mechanical / Metallurgy Engineering from reputed college.
• 2. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Welding Engineer.
• 3. Additional certifications in Welding & Metallurgy will be an added advantage.
• 4. Good knowledge of ASME codes for welding requirements.
• 5. SAP knowledge will be an added advantage.
• 6. ASNT Level II in RT, PT, MT, UT.
