Job summary

Angel and Genie seeks a Welding Engineering specialist to analyze material specifications, gas mixtures, welding power sources, and arc behavior to feed feedback to hardware and software teams. The role covers weld qualification management, test case development, and final report compilation.

The candidate should have hands-on welding experience (MMA/GMAW/GTAW/SAW), familiarity with SAW/GMAW automation, and strong skills in NDT, weld defects analysis, and standards interpretation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in MECH/Material Science/EEE with Welding Technology
• Master’s degree in MECH/Material Science/EEE with Welding Technology
• PhD with Welding Technology
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in weld assessment, material testing and NDT
• 5+ years of hands-on welding in MMA/GMAW/GTAW/SAW and Gouging/Plasma
• Knowledge of power sources and accessories
• Strong test report writing and validation
• Ability to interpret customer requirements and develop verification plans

Responsibilities

• Build test case and database of all tests conducted and provide analyses
• Prepare requirements for new product development in terms of weld behavior
• Translate customer requirements into test cases and methods
• Interpret relevant standards and develop test cases; execute tests after approval
• Understand applicable standards for different products and apply them correctly

Job Summary

• Should be able to understand the material specification of different consumables, interpret its influence during welding and potential failure causes. Should be able to give them as feedback to hardware and software teams.
• Should be able to understand the specification of different gas mixtures, interpret its influence during welding and potential failure causes. Should be able to give them as feedback to hardware and software teams.
• Should be able to understand the engineering requirement – Welding power sources, topologies, and weld behavior.
• Should be able to understand the influence of arc behavior during welding and convey the performance feedback to team.
• Should be able to understand the weld defects and interpret the root cause for the defect.
• Should have good proficiency in Weldability assessment, NDT, Reliability tests, Material testing.
• Should be able to understand the customer/field requirements, convert it to product requirements.
• Manage and coordinate welding qualification activities by developing the work scope, pre-qualification presentations to key stakeholders, supervising the execution of work and evaluating the welds and compiling final test reports.
• Should be able to demonstrate GMAW/GTAW/MMA/SAW welding & Gouging/Plasma and its process parameters.
• Should be able to demonstrate SAW/GMAW automation welding applications – SPM, Column and Boom, Tractor and Robot

Duties & Responsibilities

• Build test case and database of all the test done. Do analysis and give feedback or reports
• Prepare requirements for NPD in terms of weld behavior
• Understand customer requirement and convert it to test case and methods.
• If any relevant standard involved, interpret the standard, make test case and after approval carry out the test.
• Understand the standards that are to be applied for the different products and interpret them in a right way.
• Contribute to knowledge during the development phase with knowledge and information.
• Withhold laboratory safety and comply to the rules of the laboratory.

Qualifications Required

• Minimum bachelor’s degree with 6+ / master’s with 5+/ PhD with 4+ in MECH/Material Science/EEE background and Welding Technology.
• Should have minimum 5+ years of experience in weld assessment, material testing and NDT.
• Should have 5+ years of experience in hands on welding activity in MMA/GMAW/GTAW/SAW welding and Gouging/Plasma
• Good background knowledge on power sources and accessories.
• Knowledge in Power electronics: converters/inverters and Magnetics etc.
• Strong soft skills: Test report making and validation.
• Test methods: Hands on experience in developing understanding customer needs and developing verification plan/test cases.
