Job summary

the Sleep Company is seeking an experienced leader to manage end-to-end FG warehouse operations in our Bhiwandi facility, ensuring receiving, putaway, storage, picking, packing and dispatch are seamless and aligned with SOPs and SLAs.

You will drive inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and timely reconciliations with Finance, QA and SCM; oversee capacity planning, manpower, and process improvements; and ensure safety compliance across all warehouse activities.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of experience in FG warehouse operations in FMCG, E-commerce, Retail or similar industries.
• Strong experience in end-to-end FG warehouse management.
• Good knowledge of SAP/WMS systems and inventory controls.
• Proven leadership, communication and stakeholder management.
• Experience in warehouse cost control and productivity improvements.
• Knowledge of 5S, Lean, RCA/CAPA and safety SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end FG warehouse operations from receiving to final dispatch.
• Ensure inbound, putaway, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, and outbound dispatch run smoothly.
• Align operations with SOPs, TATs, SLAs and business priorities.
• Monitor daily throughput and identify bottlenecks.
• Handle BAU, peak-season, promotions and urgent dispatch requirements.
• Maintain 100% inventory accuracy via cycle counts and audits.
• Monitor inventory ageing and aging-related issues; ensure FIFO/FEFO.
• Ensure timely order fulfilment for customer, store and inter-warehouse orders.
• Coordinate vehicle planning and route requirements with Transport/Logistics teams.
• Drive space and capacity planning; optimize storage locations and layouts.
• Manage permanent and contractual manpower; create shift rosters.
• Develop SOPs, drive productivity improvements and cost optimization.
• Ensure accurate SAP/WMS transactions and system reconciliations.
• Maintain safety standards; conduct audits and compliance checks.
• Provide periodic performance reports to management.
• Handle escalations related to inventory, dispatch, space and service levels.

Role & responsibilities

FG Warehouse Operations

• Manage end-to-end FG warehouse operations from receiving to final dispatch.
• Ensure smooth inbound, putaway, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, and outbound dispatch operations.
• Ensure operations are aligned with defined SOPs, TATs, SLAs, and business priorities.
• Monitor daily warehouse throughput and identify operational bottlenecks.
• Ensure smooth handling of BAU, peak-season, promotional, and urgent dispatch requirements.

2. Inventory Management

• Ensure 100% system vs. physical inventory accuracy through cycle counts and regular audits.
• Monitor inventory ageing, slow-moving, damaged, blocked, and excess stock.
• Ensure proper FIFO/FEFO wherever applicable.
• Drive timely reconciliation and closure of inventory discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Finance, QA, Production, PPC, and SCM teams for stock-related issues.
• Ensure accurate SAP/WMS transactions for all warehouse movements.

3. Order Fulfilment & Dispatch

• Ensure timely fulfilment of customer, store, Quick Commerce, and inter-warehouse orders.
• Monitor order ageing and ensure priority orders are dispatched within TAT.
• Ensure accurate picking, packing, staging, and vehicle loading.
• Coordinate with Transport/Logistics teams for vehicle planning and route requirements.
• Monitor dispatch accuracy and minimize wrong, short, excess, and damaged dispatches.

4. Warehouse Space & Capacity Planning

• Plan warehouse capacity based on current inventory, forecast, and future business requirements.
• Optimize storage locations, pallet positions, racks, aisles, and floor space.
• Drive effective utilization of warehouse space.
• Plan and execute rack installation, relocation, expansion, and warehouse migration projects.
• Identify additional storage requirements and evaluate external warehouse options when required.

5. Manpower Management

• Plan and manage permanent and contractual manpower as per operational requirements.
• Prepare shift rosters and ensure adequate manpower deployment across inbound, inventory, picking, packing, and dispatch.
• Monitor productivity and manpower utilization.
• Conduct performance reviews and identify training requirements.
• Ensure adherence to attendance, discipline, overtime, and workforce policies.

6. Process & Productivity Improvement

• Develop and implement warehouse SOPs and process controls.
• Drive productivity improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
• Monitor key operational KPIs and implement corrective actions.
• Identify root causes of recurring operational issues and drive RCA/CAPA.
• Implement lean warehouse practices, 5S, visual management, and process standardization.

7. SAP / WMS / System Management

• Ensure accurate and timely transactions in SAP/WMS/ERP.
• Monitor system vs. physical inventory mismatches.
• Coordinate with IT/SAP/WMS teams for system issues affecting warehouse operations.
• Ensure proper execution of GRN, STO/STN, picking, transfer, production, and dispatch transactions as applicable.
• Participate in system UAT, process changes, and warehouse automation projects.

8. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure 100% compliance with warehouse safety standards and statutory requirements.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and safe material handling.
• Conduct regular safety audits and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance for forklifts, reach trucks, racks, loading/unloading, fire safety, and emergency procedures.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements.

9. Team & Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with PPC, Production, Sales, Customer Service, Finance, QA, Transport, Procurement, and Stores.
• Ensure smooth communication between warehouse and business teams.
• Provide daily/weekly/monthly operational performance reports to management.
• Handle escalations related to inventory, dispatch, space, manpower, and service levels.

Preferred candidate profile

• 6 - 10 years of experience in warehouse/FG operations, preferably in FMCG, E-commerce, Retail, Consumer Durables, Mattress/Furniture, or similar industries.
• Strong experience in end-to-end FG warehouse management.
• Good knowledge of SAP/WMS systems.
• Strong understanding of inventory management, order fulfilment, dispatch, warehouse capacity planning, and manpower management.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel, MIS, dashboards, and operational analytics.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in warehouse cost control and productivity improvement.
• Knowledge of 5S, Lean, RCA/CAPA, safety, and warehouse SOPs.
