Job Description

Ward In-charge is responsible for supervising nursing operations and patient care activities within the assigned ward. The includes staff deployment, patient care supervision, duty allocation, medication and treatment monitoring, documentation review, coordination with doctors and support departments, inventory management, infection control, and ensuring compliance with nursing standards and hospital procedures.

• Manage day-to-day nursing activities in the assigned ward.
• Allocate duties and responsibilities to nursing staff.
• Monitor staffing levels and arrange coverage as required.
• Supervise and guide staff nurses and nursing support personnel.
• Ensure safe and quality nursing care for all ward patients.
• Monitor patient condition and ensure timely escalation of concerns.
• Coordinate with doctors regarding patient treatment and care requirements.
• Review medication administration and treatment compliance.
• Ensure accurate nursing documentation and patient records.
• Conduct regular ward rounds and monitor patient care standards.
• Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharge activities.
• Monitor availability of medicines, nursing supplies, and equipment.
• Coordinate with pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, billing, and other departments.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and patient safety practices.
• Address routine patient and attendant concerns related to nursing services.
• Report incidents, staffing issues, and operational concerns to nursing management.
• Support orientation and training of nursing staff.
• Conduct effective shift handovers and communicate pending activities.
