Job summary

Experis in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Linux Server Management Specialist to join our infrastructure team. The role covers installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of Linux servers, with exposure to physical and virtual environments.

You will work with Hypervisors (Xen/VMware), LVM, DNS, LDAP, IPTables, and automation basics (Chef, scripting). Familiarity with GitHub/Jira and monitoring tools is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in Linux server management and administration
• Experience with server installation, maintenance and decommissioning (physical/VM)
• Profound Linux OS operations experience
• Knowledge of hypervisors (XEN, VMware)
• Knowledge of LVM, DNS, LDAP, and IPTables
• Strong troubleshooting skills for server downtime
• Experience in physical server management
• Associate-level knowledge of at least one public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Basic knowledge of automation tools (Chef) and scripting (bash, Perl)
• Familiarity with GitHub and Jira is beneficial
• Awareness of monitoring with Prometheus on Docker or ELK stack is beneficial
• Knowledge of central infrastructure services (Security Groups, RPM, Rsync, AD, Nagios) is beneficial
• Ability to transfer knowledge to 2nd level support

Responsibilities

• Deliver 3rd level technical support in line with customer SLAs
• Manage daily compute operations including events, incidents, SRs, CRs, and RCAs per ITIL
• Install, maintain, monitor, and decommission servers; apply special configurations
• Handle storage operations based on NetApp NFS
• Manage packages/repositories and OS image maintenance
• Patch management using BladeLogic Automation
• Configure and rollout server monitoring/alerts
• Conduct performance testing and analysis
• Perform root cause analysis for customer incidents
• Create service/task documentation, testing, and knowledge transfer
• Assist 2nd level technical support on complex tasks
• Participate in on-call rotation including weekends/holidays if required

• Experience in Server (physical/VM) installation, maintenance & decommissioning.
• Profound Linux OS operations experience.
• Knowledge in hypervisor operations (XEN and VMware).
• To have good knowledge in LVM, DNS, LDAP and IPTables.
• To have good troubleshooting skills in server down situation.
• Knowledge in physical server management.
• Additionally, associate level knowledge in at least one public cloud landscape (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Basic knowledge in automation tools and (e.g. chef) and scripting (e.g. bash, Perl)
• Additionally, knowledge/experience in using GitHub and Jira would be beneficial.
• Any experience in monitoring with Prometheus on docker setup and/or ELK stack would be beneficial (not mandatory)
• Any knowledge for central infrastructure services is recommended and highly beneficial (Security Groups/RPM/Rsync/Mail/Active Directory/Chef automation/Nagios/repository management/Monitoring)
• Able to provide knowledge transfer from certain technology areas towards 2nd level technical support.
