Server Engineer IT Operations Infrastructure
Purpose of Role:
Support daily operations of server, virtualization (VMware/KVM), storage (HPE SAN),backupand monitoring platforms to ensureoptimumavailability,performanceand security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision VMs (VMwareESXi/vSphere) and deploy new physical and virtual servers (Windows Server and Linux).
- Perform daily server health checks, patch implementation, preventive maintenance, and storage allocation (HPE SAN, MSA).
- Monitor backup jobs andvalidaterecoveryactionsas necessary.
- Maintain system documentation, update runbooks, and configuration records in ITSM tools.
- Support monitoring platforms likeZabbix;escalate and collaborate with Level 2/3 support as needed.
- Handle Tier 1/2 incidents, troubleshoot hardware/software faults, maintainSLA compliance.
- Coordinate with OEM (HPE) for hardware support and VMware for licensing/upgrades.
- Support implementation of changes and OS virtualization upgrades.
Required Experience Skills:
- 35 years in server infrastructure support, virtualization (VMware), HPE blade/SAN/storage systems; Windows Linux administration.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, storage concepts (SAN/LUN).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios) and backup solutions (Veeam,Commvaultor similar).
- Familiarity with patch management, serverhardeningand vulnerability remediation.
Preferred Certifications Qualifications:
- VMware VCP
- HPE DCAE or Infrastructure Certs
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server
- Red Hat Certified Engineer/Administrator
- ITIL Foundation
