Job summary

Max Healthcare is seeking an Eye OT Technician to assist in the preparation and maintenance of the Eye OR for scheduled and emergency surgeries. You will coordinate with wards, surgeons, anesthetists and other departments to ensure OT readiness and patient safety.

The role requires meticulous infection control, sterilization, proper handling of ophthalmic equipment and documentation of OT activities. You will participate in data collection and support training of staff.

Responsibilities

To assist in the preparation and maintenance of the Eye OT for scheduled and emergency surgeries.
To coordinate with the wards, OPD, surgeons, anesthetists and other departments regarding OT requirements.
To ensure availability and readiness of surgical instruments, ophthalmic equipment, consumables and implants before surgery.
To check and prepare all ophthalmic instruments and equipment as per the planned surgical procedure.
To maintain safe work practices with respect to infection control, sterilization and radiation safety, wherever applicable.
To ensure proper sterilization, disinfection and aseptic practices are followed in the Eye OT.
To inform the surgeon about patient preparedness and ensure all pre-operative requirements are completed.
To verify patient identification, surgical procedure, eye/site and required implants or consumables before surgery.
To assist the surgeon and OT team during ophthalmic surgical procedures as required.
To maintain proper handling, counting and documentation of surgical instruments, consumables, implants and other OT materials.
To inform the concerned ward/department when surgery is completed and coordinate safe transfer of the patient.
To maintain OT records, registers, checklists and dashboard data related to Eye OT activities.
To maintain records of re-scheduling and cancellation of surgical cases and communicate changes to concerned departments.
To assist HOD/OT In-charge in data collection, reporting and processing as and when required.
To attend to emergency Eye OT requirements during and after working hours as per hospital protocols.
To provide technical guidance, assistance and instructions to OT staff and support the training of new personnel.
To ensure safe utilization, routine checking and proper handling of ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
To report any equipment malfunction, damage, shortage of consumables or other OT-related issues to the concerned authority.
To ensure proper segregation and disposal of biomedical waste as per hospital policy.
To maintain cleanliness, organization and readiness of the Eye OT before, during and after procedures.
To be well groomed, punctual and adhere to hospital/company policies, procedures and practices.
To have complete orientation of the QMS and EMS systems of the hospital.
To have complete awareness about the Disaster Management Programme (DMP) of the hospital.
To comply with service quality processes, environmental requirements and occupational health and safety policies of the respective area.
To comply with the hospital's patient safety policies and infection prevention and control practices.
To maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of patient-related information.
To participate in quality improvement activities, audits, training programmes and competency assessments as required.
To ensure safe utilization of equipment and proper waste disposal systems at all times.
