Job description

The OT Technician will be responsible for preparing the operation theatre, assisting during surgeries, handling surgical instruments, and ensuring adherence to infection control and sterilization standards. This requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in high-pressure environments.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain the operation theatre for surgical procedures.
• Sterilize and arrange surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables.
• Assist surgeons and nursing staff during operations.
• Ensure availability of all required surgical tools and supplies before procedures.
• Maintain aseptic and sterile conditions in the OT at all times.
• Operate and monitor OT equipment such as surgical lights, suction machines, cautery, and anesthesia machines.
• Handle patient positioning and preparation before surgery.
• Assist in pre-operative and post-operative procedures.
• Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and storage of surgical instruments.
• Coordinate with CSSD for sterilization and instrument supply.
• Maintain records of surgical procedures, instruments, and OT usage.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
• Monitor OT cleanliness and coordinate with housekeeping staff.
• Assist in emergency surgeries and critical procedures.
• Identify and report any equipment malfunction or issues.
• Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste as per guidelines.
• Maintain inventory of OT supplies and inform for replenishment.
• Follow hospital policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
• Work in rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and emergency duties.
• Support surgeons and staff in achieving successful surgical outcomes.
• Participate in training programs and skill development activities.
• Maintain professionalism, discipline, and teamwork in the OT environment.
• Contribute to patient safety and high-quality surgical care.
