Technician - Operation Theatre is responsible for assisting surgical teams in preparing and maintaining operation theatre facilities, handling surgical instruments and equipment, and ensuring smooth support during surgical procedures. The involves preparing OT setups, sterilizing instruments, assisting surgeons and nursing staff, maintaining OT protocols, and ensuring patient safety during surgical operations.
- Prepare operation theatre setups before surgical procedures as per surgical requirements.
- Sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and OT materials according to infection control protocols.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of surgical instruments and OT equipment.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sterility, and safety standards within the operation theatre.
- Handle surgical instruments carefully during procedures and assist with instrument counts.
- Support patient positioning, shifting, and preparation before surgery.
- Maintain OT records, procedure logs, sterilization records, and equipment documentation.
- Coordinate with CSSD, nursing staff, and other departments for OT material and equipment requirements.
- Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste and adherence to hospital safety protocols.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions or technical issues promptly.
- Assist in emergency surgeries and urgent OT procedures when required.
- Monitor stock levels of OT consumables, surgical supplies, and sterile materials.
- Follow infection control practices, OT protocols, and patient safety guidelines at all times.
- Ensure proper maintenance and handling of OT machines, lights, monitors, and anesthesia support equipment.
- Participate in OT audits, quality improvement activities, and departmental meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and surgical records.
- Provide timely support during pre-operative and post-operative patient care activities.
- Stay updated with advancements in OT technology, surgical procedures, and sterilization practices.
- Maintain professionalism, discipline, and effective teamwork during surgical operations.
