OT Technician

The OT Technician will support operation theatre activities in an eye hospital by preparing surgical instruments, maintaining sterile conditions, assisting during ophthalmic procedures, and ensuring smooth OT workflow. This requires knowledge of OT protocols, sterilization support, equipment handling, infection control, and patient preparation. The candidate will coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, OT nurses, CSSD, and support teams to ensure safe, clean, and efficient surgical operations.

• Prepare the operation theatre before ophthalmic surgical procedures as per OT protocols.
• Arrange surgical instruments, microscope accessories, consumables, linen, and required materials before cases.
• Assist surgeons, OT nurses, and clinical teams during eye surgeries and related procedures.
• Support patient shifting, positioning, preparation, and transfer before and after surgery.
• Maintain sterility, cleanliness, and infection control standards inside the operation theatre.
• Assist in cleaning, disinfection, and turnover of OT rooms between surgical cases.
• Coordinate with CSSD for sterile instruments, trays, surgical packs, and OT supplies.
• Check availability and readiness of OT equipment, microscope, suction, cautery, lights, and monitors.
• Follow biomedical waste segregation and disposal practices as per hospital guidelines.
• Handle instruments and equipment carefully to prevent damage, contamination, or mix-ups.
• Report equipment malfunction, supply shortage, or OT safety concern to senior staff immediately.
• Support emergency surgical preparation and quick OT readiness when required.
• Maintain OT registers, cleaning checklists, procedure records, and equipment logs when assigned.
• Follow PPE, gowning, hand hygiene, and safety practices during all OT activities.
• Help ensure smooth surgical workflow, patient safety, and timely OT case completion.
