Job summary

Expert Contech Projects Llp is seeking an experienced Cost Estimation & Quantity Surveying professional to lead tendering, BOQ preparation, and cost control across civil, structural, architectural and MEP works.

You will review drawings, prepare detailed take-offs, estimates, and bid pricing, while coordinating with project teams for accurate cost reporting and value engineering opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Diploma in civil engineering or related field.
  • 49 years of experience in construction cost estimation, quantity surveying, or commercial functions.
  • Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, rate analysis, and cost estimation.
  • Experience in preparing tenders, quotations, budgets, and cost comparison statements.
  • Good understanding of civil, structural, architectural, and finishing works.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, labour productivity, equipment costs, and market rates.
  • Experience in cost control, budget monitoring, variation orders, and progress billing/RA bills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • MS Excel proficiency; knowledge of AutoCAD and estimation/QS software is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Quantity Take-Off & BOQ: Review drawings, prepare detailed take-offs for civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed estimates; calculate material, labour, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Tendering & Bidding: Study tender docs, prepare bids, obtain quotations, and evaluate offers.
  • Cost Control: Monitor costs vs budget, prepare cost reports and forecasts, track variances.
  • Variation & Change Management: Evaluate variations, prepare variation orders, assess cost impact.
  • Progress Measurement & Billing: Verify site quantities, prepare RA/progress bills, track progress.
  • Procurement & Vendor Coordination: Assist procurement, compare quotations, negotiate rates.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain estimation sheets, BOQs, rate analyses, and cost reports.
  • Technical & Commercial Coordination: Coordinate with architects/consultants/PMs; support value engineering.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Quantity Take-Off & BOQ
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works as applicable.
  • Prepare and update BOQ (Bill of Quantities).
  • Verify quantities against drawings and site conditions.
Cost Estimation
  • Prepare detailed estimates for construction projects.
  • Calculate material, labour, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
  • Develop unit rates and rate analysis for various construction activities.
  • Include wastage, productivity, escalation, and contingencies where required.
Tendering & Bidding
  • Study tender documents and scope of work.
  • Prepare commercial bids and tender pricing.
  • Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate subcontractor/vendor offers and prepare bid comparison statements.
  • Identify exclusions, assumptions, and commercial risks.
Cost Control
  • Monitor actual project costs against the approved budget.
  • Prepare cost reports and cost-to-complete forecasts.
  • Track material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain cost-control records and databases.
Variation & Change Management
  • Evaluate variations, additional works, and omissions.
  • Prepare variation orders and supporting quantity calculations.
  • Analyze the cost impact of design or scope changes.
  • Support the commercial team in negotiations and approvals.
Progress Measurement & Billing
  • Verify quantities completed at site.
  • Prepare or check RA bills / progress bills.
  • Coordinate with site engineers and subcontractors for measurement verification.
  • Track work progress against the planned quantities and budget.
Procurement & Vendor Coordination
  • Assist procurement teams with material quantity and cost requirements.
  • Compare supplier quotations and negotiate rates where required.
  • Monitor material price changes and their impact on project costs.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain estimation sheets, BOQs, rate analyses, quotations, and cost reports.
  • Prepare monthly cost-control reports.
  • Maintain records of approved budgets, variations, commitments, and actual expenditure.
  • Ensure proper documentation for audits and management review.
Technical & Commercial Coordination
  • Coordinate with architects, consultants, project managers, planning engineers, procurement teams, and site engineers.
  • Review drawings and specifications for discrepancies affecting cost.
  • Participate in value-engineering exercises to reduce project costs without compromising quality.
Software & Tools
  • Use MS Excel extensively for estimation, rate analysis, and cost control.
  • Use AutoCAD for drawing review and quantity take-off.
  • Use quantity surveying/estimation and project management software as required.
  • Maintain organized cost databases and historical rates.
