Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in India seeks an experienced Process Engineer to design and optimize utility systems for steel, non-ferrous, power and mining projects. You will work on fuel gas/oil, steam, water treatment, ZLD and related plants.

You will select equipment, develop PFD/P&ID with control philosophy, sizing, hydraulic design, piping stress analysis, and piping spool drawings, coordinating with vendors to evaluate bids while ensuring compliance with international codes.

Qualifications

• Full-time engineering degree in chemical or mechanical streams from a recognized university.
• 3–20 years of experience in utility system design for industrial projects in steel, power, or mining.
• Familiar with process simulation tools and piping engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering of utility systems including fuel gas, fuel oil, steam, water, and waste water treatment with ZLD and related plants.
• Selection and specification of mechanical equipment (pumps, exchangers, compressors, boilers, tanks, valves, etc.).
• Develop PFD and P&ID with control philosophies, units sizing, hydraulic design, pump head and piping stress analysis.
• Piping engineering including supports, isometrics, and spool drawings.
• Prepare piping BOQ, conduct vendor evaluations and technical bid analyses.
• Support piping material selection, line sizing, routing, and stress reviews.
• Ensure designs comply with international codes, standards, regulations, and client specs.

Role & Responsibilities

• Should have strong domain competence in Process engineering of various Utility systems related to Fuel gas, Fuel oil, Steam, other utility gases, Water supply & treatment and Waste Water Treatment including Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD), Acid Regeneration Plant, Air Separation Plant for Steel, Non- ferrous, Power and other process industries.
• Should have Exposure to selection of several mechanical equipment like Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Condensers, Cooling towers, Compressors, Blowers, Fans, Pressure filters, tanks & receivers, Thickeners /Clarifiers, Sludge dewatering systems, Valves, and other piping speciality items.
• Knowledge of Calculations and Development of PFD and P&ID with proper control philosophy, Basic unit sizing, Hydraulic Designs of piping networks, pump & compressor head selection, piping stress analysis etc.
• Exposure to Basic & Detailed piping engineering including selections of supports, piping isometrics and piping spool drawings.
• Preparation of piping BOQ, technical bid evaluations and vendor selection activities.
• Support piping engineering activities, including Piping material selection, Line sizing and routing philosophy, Piping stress analysis review.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable international codes, standards, statutory regulations, and client specifications.

Qualification, Experience And Skills

Minimum Qualifications

Full-time MTech or BE or BTech or Diploma & ITI in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university/institute.

Minimum Years Of Experience & Industry Preference

• 3-20 years of relevant experience in Utility System Design and Engineering in Industrial Projects.
• Experience in process engineering of utility and water systems for Steel, Non-Ferrous, Power, Mining, and Process Industry projects.
• Familiarity with process simulation and engineering tools such as AFT Arrow, Fluid Flow, Pipe Net, CEASER, PVELITE, etc.
• Experience in engineering consultancy, design centres, or EPC organizations will be preferred.
