Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Surat, Gujarat invites a Diploma Mechanical Engineer specializing in piping with 3–8 years of experience to join our project teams. The role covers piping design, drafting, fabrication supervision, erection oversight, material management, and adherence to industry codes.

You will coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, prepare piping layouts, GA and equipment layouts, review P&IDs, and develop isometrics with BOM.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 3–8 years piping experience.
• Proficient in piping layouts, GA drawings, and isometrics.
• Knowledge of P&IDs interpretation and BOM preparation.
• Experience supervising fabrication, erection, hydrotesting.
• Familiar with ASME B31.1/B31.3, API, IS codes and client/project standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review piping layouts, GA, and equipment layouts.
• Interpret P&IDs and select pipes, supports, valves, strainers, expansion joints.
• Prepare isometric drawings with BOM.
• Coordinate with fabricators, welders, fitters, and contractors.
• Monitor weld joints and WPS/PQR, ensure safety and quality procedures.

Job description

A Diploma Mechanical Engineer in piping with 3–8 years experience is responsible for piping design, drafting, fabrication, erection supervision, material management, and ensuring compliance with codes. The role involves coordination across engineering disciplines and supporting smooth execution of plant projects.

• Preparation and review of Piping Layouts, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and Equipment Layouts.
• Understanding and interpretation of P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).
• Selection and sizing of:
• Pipes
• Pipe Supports
• Valves (Gate, Globe, Check, Ball, Butterfly)
• Strainers, Expansion Joints, Dampers
• Preparation of Isometric drawings with BOM (Bill of Materials).
• Knowledge of pipe routing, flexibility analysis basics, and allowable nozzle loads.

Shall be familiar with Codes & Standards

• Working knowledge of relevant codes such as:
• ASME B31.1 / B31.3
• ASME Section II, V, VIII, IX
• API standards
• Indian Standards (IS codes)
• Familiarity with client and project-specific standards.
  • Supervising piping fabrication, erection, alignment, and hydrotesting.
  • Coordination with fabricators, welders, fitters, and contractors.
  • Monitoring weld joints, WPS/PQR/Welder Qualification.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety norms and quality procedures.
• Working knowledge of software:
