Job summary

Tata Steel in Odisha seeks a Mechanical Engineer specialized in Design & Detail Engineering for Piping, Utilities and Water systems on Greenfield and Brownfield projects. You will drive concepts, align with Indian and international standards, and coordinate with BU, PM, consultants and technology providers.

The role emphasizes interface engineering, basic engineering deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, water balance), BOQ estimation, value engineering and 3D design reviews using AutoCAD and Navisworks,

Qualifications

• Experience in D&E of Utilities & Water System preferably for steel plant.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; familiarity with 3D modelling tools.
• Exposure to CEASAR II, Pipenet, Aspen or AFT is advantageous.

Role Description

• Design and Detail Engineering in the area of Piping, Utilities and Water systems for new Greenfield as well as Brownfield projects
• Conceptualization of project
• Adaptation of international & Indian Standards and industrial best practices.
• Co-ordination with Business Unit, PM, Consultant, Technology provider
• Interface Engineering and Management
• In-house Basic Engineering – Utility balances, water balance, PFDs, P&IDs, HAZOP studies
• Develop Capability for estimation of project BOQs
• Value engineering
• Design optimization. Design & Detailed Engineering in 3D. Review engineering
• Procurement Engineering
• Preparation of Technical Specifications, tender analysis and preparation of TER
• Interdisciplinary co-ordination
• Health & Safety Management
• Development of engineering data base & literature survey, documentation
• Checking for completeness & correctness of deliverables.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS office. Experience in 3D modelling software, model review in Navisworks and clash checking is preferable.
• Exposure of Utilities & Water system related software (ex- CEASAR II, Pipenet, Aspen, AFT etc.)
