Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Mechanical Engineering with relevant piping design focus.

Lloyds Consutling & Engineering is Hiring for Piping / Utilities Engineering Manager / Piping Design Engineer .

Job Location: Pune .

Position Overview:

The Piping Engineer / Utility Engineering Manager is responsible for the Design, layout, and detailed engineering of piping systems in steel plants and other large industrial projects.

The role involves in review of 3D plant layouts and piping routes, Material specifications, Pipe Sizing and coordination with process, civil, structural, and instrumentation disciplines to deliver efficient, safe, and constructible piping designs in line with project and industry standards.

The Utility Manager is responsible for handling a team of Piping Engineers, Static & Rotating Equipment and Utility packages Like Water treatment plants, ETPs, Cooling water systems, Compressor stations and Fuel oil facilities.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Design & Layout Development

• Preparation of PFDs, P&IDs and Pipe sizing and Friction drop calculations for water and Utility piping systems.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed piping designs for process plants, utilities, and off-site facilities in steel and heavy industrial projects.
• Develop piping layouts, general arrangement (GA) drawings, isometrics, and support details of Pump houses, compressor stations, Pipe rakes using 3D modelling tools.
• Route process and utility pipelines considering equipment locations, accessibility, flexibility, and maintainability.
• Coordinate with process and mechanical engineers for equipment nozzle orientations, piping interfaces, and tie-in points.
• Review and optimize layouts for constructability, maintainability, and safety compliance.

2. Engineering Calculations & Documentation

• Develop piping material specifications (PMS), valve lists and MTOs.
• Prepare design basis reports (DBR), Piping systems and Utility packages , data sheets for rotating Equipment.
• TS & Technical bid Evaluations Packaged Items.
• Ensure all deliverables adhere to project specifications, codes, and standards (IS, ASME, ASTM, IS, API, etc.).

3. Coordination & Interface

• Work closely with process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and Project teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Interface with vendors, fabricators, and contractors during design, procurement, and construction phases.
• Review vendor drawings, 3D models, and design documents for technical accuracy and project compliance.
• Conduct interdisciplinary design review meetings (IDR) and model reviews (Navisworks/BIM environment).

4. Project Execution Support

• Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, erection, and commissioning.
• Resolve site design queries and engineering issues during project execution.
• Prepare as-built documentation and ensure design records are updated accurately.

5. Code Compliance

• Ensure compliance with international design codes such as ASME B31.1/B31.3, API, IS, and company standards.
• Incorporate safety-by-design principles (e.g., accessibility, layout spacing).

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering , M.E. / M.Tech in Thermal Engg / Plant Design.

Experience:

• Piping Design Engineer: 5-10 years of experience in Piping Design for steel plants, power, oil & gas, or heavy industrial projects.

• Utility Engineering Manager: 1220 years of experience including leadership in multi-discipline EPC/EPCM projects

Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, fabrication, erection methods, and plant design principles.
• Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, API, IS, and DIN standards.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with greenfield and brownfield steel plant and Mining projects.
• Exposure to utility, water treatment, Oil & gas and chemical piping systems.
• Familiarity with modular design and 3D coordination workflows.
• Experience working with international design codes and global engineering teams.
• Review of 3D Modelling of 30 %, 60 and 90 % Models.
