Job summary

COMSOL, Inc. seeks a Technical Sales Engineer to join the academic sales team in Bengaluru.

You will inform, sell, and support engineers, scientists and academicians on the usefulness of simulation using COMSOL software. You will identify and qualify simulation requirements through meetings and demonstrations, participate in onsite and web-based customer meetings, explain licensing models, and help negotiate terms with procurement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a physical science.
  • Two years of sales experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sales experience in academics preferred.
  • Coursework based on FEM/FEA and related simulations.

Responsibilities

  • Sales in premier academic institutions.
  • Qualify leads and identify simulation requirements through meetings and demonstrations.
  • Participate in onsite and web-based customer meetings, workshops, and other events.
  • Explain licensing models and help negotiate terms with procurement.
  • Support evaluations of the COMSOL software with applications engineers.
  • Willingness to travel within India to meet current and potential customers for events and activities.
  • Promote effective technical support together with applications engineers on user applications.
  • Find new opportunities to sell existing and new COMSOL software and technology to existing customers and their departments.

We at COMSOL create our own simulation software and provide it to technology enterprises, government facilities, and academic research facilities. Our flagship product, COMSOL Multiphysics®, is the premier modeling tool for simulating technical applications in almost all engineering industries and scientific disciplines. Users of the COMSOL® software are the preeminent engineers and scientists in their respective fields who require simulations to advance their innovations and objectives. They invent and optimize new and existing processes and products that matter to the future of our world. COMSOL is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join the academic sales team in the Bengaluru office who will be able to inform, sell, support engineers, scientists and academicians on the usefulness of simulation using COMSOL® software.

  • Sales in premier academic institutions.
  • Use your insight, communication skills, and technical acumen to proactively qualify leads marked as prospective customers.
  • Methodically identify and qualify simulation requirements for prospective customers through meetings and demonstrations.
  • Participate in onsite and web-based customer meetings, workshops, and other marketing/sales events arranged by the team.
  • Articulate business cases for the unique capabilities offered by COMSOL, explain licensing models, and help negotiate terms and conditions with legal and procurement departments wherever necessary.
  • Support working with prospective customers on evaluations of the COMSOL® software, or facilitate such evaluations through working in collaboration with COMSOL applications engineers.
  • Have the willingness and ability to travel for limited periods of time to meet current and potential customers in order to run COMSOL-sponsored events and activities in India.
  • Promote effective technical support together with COMSOL applications engineers on the use of the COMSOL® software for customers’ applications.
  • Communicate with existing customers on a regular basis to manage their relationship with COMSOL, keeping them informed about new features and technology in the COMSOL® software, as well as events and other useful activities.
  • Find new opportunities to sell existing and new COMSOL® software and technology to existing customers, their colleagues and other departments within their organizations.
  • A bachelor's/master’s degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a physical science. Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical.
  • Prior sales experience for a minimum of two years.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sales experience in academics preferred.
  • Coursework based on the following or its equivalent: Computational analyses, modeling, and simulations through numerical methods, such as the Finite Element Method (FEM/FEA), to be used in applications, such as fluid mechanics, transport phenomena, structural mechanics, chemical engineering, applied physics or mathematics.Supporting your success in your role as a Sales Engineer will be other sales engineers, applications engineers, software developers who occupy the top echelons of their areas of expertise. You will see and participate in the development and operation of many and varied cutting-edge new technologies. As a sales engineer, you will work with some of the most preeminent engineers and scientists in their respective fields, who are simulating innovations and ideas for the future.
