Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Technical Communication or related field.
• 5–8 years in technical documentation, publications, or service documentation.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems and vehicle architecture.
• Experience with Arbortext Editor, FrameMaker, XML editors.
• Hands-on with PLM/PDM systems and engineering release workflows.
• Knowledge of S1000D, DITA XML, ATA/ASD standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain service, operator, repair manuals, and maintenance instructions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and Product Development teams.
• Create and update product documentation through lifecycle stages.
• Manage BOMs, Service BOMs, and product data in PLM/PDM systems.
• Develop technical content using XML, SGML, DITA and other standards.
• Create technical illustrations, exploded views, and service graphics.
• Support localization and translation activities for global launches.
• Participate in reviews and quality checks for documentation standards.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Technical Documentation Engineer with 5-8 years of experience in Technical Documentation, Product Information Management, 3D Visualization/Content Creation, Training Documentation, and Market Support activities.

The ideal candidate should have experience working with Automotive OEMs, Commercial Vehicle Manufacturers, Industrial Equipment Manufacturers, or Engineering Services organizations. The role involves creating high-quality service and product documentation, technical illustrations, training content, and supporting engineering change implementation throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Development and maintenance of technical documentation including Service Manuals, Operator Manuals, Repair Manuals, Maintenance Instructions, Parts Catalogs, Workshop Literature, and Technical Bulletins.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and Product Development teams to gather technical information and convert it into structured, user-friendly documentation.
• Create and update product documentation throughout various stages of the product lifecycle.
• Support the creation and maintenance of product structures, Bills of Materials (BOM), Service BOMs, and product information within PLM/PDM systems.
• Develop structured technical content using XML, SGML, DITA, and other documentation standards.
• Create and revise technical illustrations, exploded views, service graphics, and visual content based on engineering drawings and CAD models.
• Develop training documentation including instructor guides, participant manuals, technical presentations, quick-reference guides, and e-learning content.
• Support aftermarket and service teams by preparing service communications, troubleshooting guides, technical bulletins, and customer support documentation.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure documentation accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery.
• Implement engineering changes and ensure documentation updates are aligned with released product modifications.
• Support localization and translation activities for global product launches.
• Participate in document reviews, quality checks, and compliance audits to ensure adherence to documentation standards and customer requirement.
• Maintain revision control, document traceability, and configuration management within the documentation environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance content quality, authoring efficiency, and documentation processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of experience in Technical Documentation, Technical Publications, Product Information Management, or Service Documentation.
• Strong understanding of automotive systems, vehicle architecture, service processes, and engineering documentation.
• Experience with Technical Authoring tools such as Arbortext Editor, Adobe FrameMaker, XML Editor & TechPub Studio.
• Hands-on experience with PLM/PDM systems and engineering release workflows.
• Experience in Physical Product Management and Product Structure Management.
• Knowledge of Service BOM (SBOM), Engineering BOM (EBOM), and Manufacturing BOM (MBOM).
• Understanding of S1000D, DITA XML, ATA, ASD/AIA standards, or equivalent technical publication standards.
• Experience creating technical training and learning content.
• Strong understanding of product change management and configuration management processes.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and customer interaction skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Automotive OEMs, Commercial Vehicles, Construction Equipment, Aerospace, or Heavy Engineering products.
• Experience supporting Service Engineering, Product Support, and Aftermarket Operations.
• Exposure to Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP) & Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100).
• Experience establishing documentation processes, templates, workflows, and governance models.
• Knowledge of the German language would be considered an added advantage.
