Job summary

Quest Global seeks a Technical Writer to create and maintain manuals and procedures for O&G tools from a content management system. You will work in a small documentation team within an agile enterprise, ensuring guides are clear for new users and detailed for advanced ones.

The role requires 5–10 years of technical writing experience, strong English communication, and experience with Documentum and XML authoring. BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Job Description

The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating and maintaining support material such as Product Manuals, procedures for O&G tools from Content Management tool. As a member of a small, dynamic documentation team and an integral part of the enterprise organization within an agile environment, he or she will make sure that instructional guides and reference manuals are clear enough for new users and detailed enough for advanced ones.

Essential Responsibilities

• Generate technical content from existing documentation and tool manuals of O&G tools


• Strategize, Plan and execute content level and description


• Collaborate with SME and AMO technicians and suggest Event-based Maintenance (EBM) strategies instead of Levels of Maintenance (LoM) based on tools usage and repair cycles


• Interact with technicians (end-users) and update chunks for improved productivity


• Write engaging content from AMO's technician point of view

Requirements

Work Experience

• Have proven skills in describing and explaining complex concepts and procedures


• Candidate should possess 5-10 years of experience in technical writing


• Clear Strategic thinker and team skills are critical


• Coordinate with Global teams and attend calls during the off-hours, if needed


• Have excellent written/verbal communication skills, particularly in English


• Be an excellent team player


• Be able to work under pressure and meet all deadlines


• Can work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic work environment

Desired Characteristics

• Have worked on user documentation, preferably online as well as PDF


• Content Management and application development know-how would be a plus


• Experience with Content Management modeling tools


• Experience with various documentation tools (e.g. Documentum)


• General knowledge on agile software development
