Job summary

V.Group is seeking an experienced IT Helpdesk/Support specialist in Chennai to provide high-level end-user support for desktop, laptop, printers, servers and onboard vessel systems. The role requires strong English communication, familiarity with Active Directory (on‑prem and Azure), Office 365, TCP/IP basics and standard network concepts.

You will travel to vessels and offices as needed, support IT security, and work within SLAs.

Qualifications

• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with end users.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Solid knowledge of desktops, laptops and tablets.
• Strong knowledge of printers and standard peripherals.
• Basic server knowledge and Windows 10+.
• Active Directory administration – on prem and Azure.
• Microsoft Office all packages including O365.

Responsibilities

• Provide telephone and remote support as part of the global team and maintain a professional manner when dealing with users and peers.
• Work with the service desk system to update users during the lifecycle of the request and resolve or elevate as required.
• Attend vessels to provide IT support to on-board systems and provide telephone support to vessels.
• Support all aspects of hardware used within the Group.
• Enforce the IT security policy and procedures.
• Attend remote office visits and provide the support required.
• Helpdesk administration as required.
• Work within SLA laid down by IT management.

Overall Purpose of The Job

To provide a high level of Support for the systems within the Group. Communicating with end users and helping to resolve any problems they have. Work within the structure of the IT department and maintain a professional level of behaviours. To travel to both vessels and offices when required and provide the necessary support. Work within the Support infrastructure and carry out the duties required from helpdesk support to project support. Work within the SLA’s of external and internal customers.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

• Supporting all VGroup Business Systems , these include in house applications and off the shelf applications used by VGroup
• Strictly adhere to the policies and procedures put in place by the VGroup VMS and IT policy documents.
• Provide telephone and remote support as part of the global team and maintaining a professional manner when dealing with users and peers.
• Working with the service desk system to update users during the lifecycle of the request and resolve or elevate as required.
• Attending Vessels to provide IT support to the on-board systems. Provide Telephone support to Vessels.
