Job Description

The Sub Section Head-Engineering, designated as Assistant Manager within the Power Plant Department, is responsible for planning, executing, and supervising maintenance activities related to the Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG. package, Ash Handling Plant (AHP., and Coal Handling/Conveying Systems to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted plant operation. The role involves managing preventive, predictive, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance of boilers, steam turbines, auxiliaries, ash handling equipment, coal conveyors, crushers, stacker reclaimers, and associated mechanical systems. The engineer is accountable for maximizing equipment availability, minimizing forced outages, improving plant reliability, and extending equipment life through effective maintenance strategies and condition monitoring techniques. The position requires close coordination with operations, engineering, contractors, and OEMs for troubleshooting, overhauls, performance improvement initiatives, and statutory compliance. The engineer also drives safety adherence, manpower planning, spare parts management, maintenance budgeting, and continuous improvement projects. By ensuring efficient operation of steam generation, power generation, ash evacuation, and fuel handling systems, the role directly contributes to achieving plant production targets, reducing maintenance costs, enhancing operational efficiency, and maintaining compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibility

• Ensure proper planning and execution to achieve targets related to warehouse dispatch and logistics covering both export and retail sectors
• Oversee and manage all engineering operations within the department ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all processes
• Manage utilities with a focus on optimal use and sustainability ensuring resources are used efficiently
• Conduct budgeting and resource planning ensuring resources are allocated effectively and operations remain within budget constraints
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards creating a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
• Conduct preventive maintenance and equipment assessments ensuring all equipment is in good working order and addressing any issues promptly
• Apply manufacturing and business knowledge to improve processes and operations driving efficiency and effectiveness
