Job summary

Sintex BAPL Limited is seeking a Shift Engineer - Mechanical to maintain and optimize plant equipment. You will plan and execute daily maintenance, perform preventive and predictive tasks, and ensure rapid fault diagnosis to minimize downtime.

The role requires a mechanical engineering background with 2–5 years of relevant experience, and fluency in English and Hindi. You will collaborate with production and quality teams to uphold safety and reliability across the manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing/maintenance.
• Proficiency in English and Hindi.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and QA processes.
• Experience in preventive/predictive maintenance and equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute maintenance activities to ensure machine availability.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on mechanical systems.
• Manage spares and tools for maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs and safety standards in maintenance work.
• Monitor KPIs like MTBF and MTTR and drive continuous improvements.

Job Purpose/ Summary

The Shift Engineer – Mechanical is responsible for ensuring the optimal availability and performance of machinery and equipment on their shift. This role involves planning, executing, and monitoring maintenance activities, implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and ensuring safety and quality compliance during all mechanical operations.

Job Description

1. Maintenance Planning & Execution Plan and execute daily and scheduled maintenance activities to ensure 100% machine availability. Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on mechanical systems, electrical instruments, and machinery. Conduct technical inspections, diagnose faults, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Analyze machine checklists, operational data, and historical breakdowns to plan predictive maintenance activities. Implement measures to reduce repetitive machine failures and improve overall system reliability. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA. on recurring issues and implement fool-proof solutions.
3. Spares & Tools Management Ensure availability of critical spares and proper inventory management to minimize downtime. Organize, identify, and visualize spares in stores for ready accessibility during maintenance. Ensure availability of necessary tools and instruments for maintenance tasks.
4. Quality & Compliance Ensure all maintenance activities are performed as per SOPs, Work Instructions, and safety standards. Maintain high quality assurance of tasks performed by associates and monitor adherence to maintenance protocols. Prepare and maintain technical reports and documentation for all maintenance activities.
5. Continuous Improvement Recommend and implement modifications or upgrades to improve machine performance and efficiency. Monitor equipment behavior, track KPIs like MTBF and MTTR, and suggest improvements for better machine uptime. Support implementation of best practices in mechanical maintenance across the plant.

Responsibility

• Conduct regular maintenance and manage spare parts inventory to ensure uninterrupted operations
• Monitor energy consumption and develop projects aimed at reducing energy usage and enhancing efficiency
• Uphold the highest standards of safety and security at all plant locations ensuring compliance with safety regulations
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize equipment downtime and extend machinery lifespan
• Coordinate with crossfunctional teams to optimize maintenance schedules and resource allocation
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance for continuous improvement
• Proactively identify and address potential mechanical issues to prevent operational disruptions
