Job summary

3D Engineering Global in Tiruchirappalli is seeking a senior structural steel detailer who will be the final human check before workshop issuance. You will verify that each Tekla model and drawing conforms to design drawings, standards and client requirements, ensuring accuracy and traceability.

With 8+ years in detailing and deep fabrication knowledge, you will sign off drawings and feed errors back into procedures while working on projects across international standards for Australia, US, UK

3D Engineering Global is a structural steel detailing company with offices in Australia, USA, Middle East, and Trichy, India. We produce Tekla Structures models, shop drawings, erection drawings and MTOs for fabricators building mining, port, industrial, energy and data centre projects, and we have won Tekla BIM Awards in 2021 and 2023.

The industry is changing and we are the ones changing it. Where appropriate, AI already sits inside our workflow. It does not put steel in the model, and it does not sign off on the model or the drawings. Those are the jobs we are hiring for.

About the role

You are the last set of human eyes before the workshop. Every model and drawing set at 3DE is self-checked by the person who made it and then checked independently by you before it is issued. Nothing goes to a fabricator without your signature on it. As AI takes more of the repetitive work, this role becomes more important, not less.

What you will do

• Check Tekla Structures models and drawing sets against the design drawings, the client's standards and our QMS checklists
• Check connections, fit-up, bolting, welding symbols, marks, quantities and MTOs
• Mark up clearly and return work with the reason, not just the red pen
• Sign off drawing sets for issue and own that decision
• Feed what you find back into our procedures and into the automated checks we are building, so the same error is not made twice

What you bring

• 8 or more years in structural steel detailing with Tekla Structures, including several years checking other people's work
• Deep knowledge of how steel is fabricated and erected, and of what a workshop does with a drawing
• Familiarity with Australian, US, UK or Middle East standards and client requirements
• Working English, written and spoken.Clear written English for mark-ups and client correspondence
• The temperament to say no to a drawing that is nearly right

How we work

Every drawing is self-checked by the person who produced it, then independently checked by a second person before it is issued. We work to written procedures under our QMS, and we expect people to use the tools we are building, question them, and tell us when they are wrong.

Location and hours

This role is full-time, on-site in our Trichy office, working on projects for Australia, the USA, the UK and the Middle East.
