Job summary

Matrix Steel Solutions is seeking an experienced Steel Detailing Checker for its Coimbatore team. The role focuses on structural and miscellaneous steel detailing, ensuring accuracy of Tekla models, erection and shop drawings, and adherence to AISC standards for US projects.

The candidate will independently verify dimensions, connections, bolt layouts, welds and fabrication details, coordinate with engineers, and guide junior detailers to maintain high quality before client submission.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel detailing / checking.
• Strong knowledge of AISC standards is mandatory.
• Experience in structural steel and miscellaneous detailing.
• Ability to independently check fabrication and erection drawings.
• Understanding of structural and architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of steel connections, bolts, welds and fabrication requirements.

Responsibilities

• Check structural and miscellaneous detailing work for accuracy and completeness.
• Review Tekla models, General Arrangement and erection drawings, shop drawings.
• Check member sizes, dimensions, levels, elevations, connections and fabrication details.
• Verify drawings against structural, architectural and contract drawings.
• Review RFIs, design changes and client comments and ensure proper incorporation.
• Coordinate with detailers, modellers, project managers and engineering teams.
• Perform final quality checks before IFA / IFC submission.
• Guide junior detailers and provide technical feedback as required.

Steel Detailing Checker - Structural & Miscellaneous Steel - AISC

Job Description

Matrix Steel Solutions is hiring an experienced Steel Detailing Checker for our structural and miscellaneous steel detailing team in Coimbatore.

We are looking for a technically strong candidate with minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel detailing and checking, with solid knowledge of AISC standards and US steel detailing practices.

The candidate should be capable of independently checking Tekla models, erection drawings, shop drawings and miscellaneous steel drawings before submission to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Check structural steel and miscellaneous steel detailing work for accuracy and completeness.
• Review Tekla models, General Arrangement / Erection drawings, shop drawings and single-part drawings.
• Check member sizes, dimensions, levels, elevations, connections, bolt layouts, welds and fabrication details.
• Verify drawings against structural, architectural and contract drawings.
• Check stair, handrail, guardrail, ladder, platform and other miscellaneous steel drawings.
• Review connection details based on engineering drawings and project requirements.
• Identify clashes, missing information and discrepancies before drawings are issued.
• Ensure drawings comply with AISC standards, project specifications and client standards.
• Review RFIs, design changes and client comments and ensure they are properly incorporated.
• Verify material specifications, quantities and member marks.
• Coordinate with detailers, modellers, project managers and engineering teams.
• Perform final quality checks before IFA / IFC submission.
• Guide junior detailers and provide technical feedback where required.
• Maintain checking quality and reduce fabrication or site-related errors.

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel detailing / checking.
• Strong knowledge of AISC standards is mandatory.
• Strong experience in structural steel and miscellaneous steel detailing.
• Ability to independently check fabrication and erection drawings.
• Good understanding of structural and architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of steel connections, bolts, welds, member orientation and fabrication requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify modelling and drawing errors.
• Experience working on US projects is strongly preferred
