Job summary

3D Engineering Global is a structural steel detailing company with offices worldwide and a Trichy, India presence. You will model structural steel in Tekla Structures from engineering drawings, apply connections from our checked libraries, and produce fabrication and erection drawings for overseas workshops.

You will work in a project team with a senior modeller and checker, self-checking your output against our procedures before submission, and using AI and automation tools we provide to

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Tekla Structures modelling on structural steel projects.
• Ability to read structural and architectural drawings and understand fabrication/erection processes.
• Working English, written and spoken, for RFIs and client mark-ups.
• Experience with Australian, US, UK or Middle East detailing standards is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Model structural steel members, connections and fittings in Tekla Structures per client standards and work instructions.
• Produce and edit shop drawings, GA drawings, and reports.
• Raise RFIs when design information is unclear or inconsistent.
• Self-check outputs before release and use AI/automation tools when appropriate.

3D Engineering Global is a structural steel detailing company with offices in Australia, USA, Middle East, and Trichy, India. We produce Tekla Structures models, shop drawings, erection drawings and MTOs for fabricators building mining, port, industrial, energy and data centre projects, and we have won Tekla BIM Awards in 2021 and 2023.

The industry is changing and we are the ones changing it. Where appropriate, AI already sits inside our workflow. About the role

You will model structural steel in Tekla Structures from engineering drawings, apply connections from our checked component libraries, and produce fabrication and erection drawings that go straight to a workshop overseas. You will work inside a project team with a senior modeller and a checker, and you will self-check your own output before it goes to them.

What you will do

Model members, connections and fittings in Tekla Structures to the client's standards and our work instructions

Produce and edit shop drawings, GA drawings and reports

Raise RFIs when the design information does not add up, rather than guessing

Self-check your own work against our checklists before handing it over

Use the AI and automation tools we provide, and tell us where they help and where they do not

What you bring

4 or more years of Tekla Structures modelling on structural steel projects

Ability to read structural and architectural drawings and understand how steel is fabricated and erected

Working English, written and spoken, for RFIs and client mark-ups

Experience with Australian, US, UK or Middle East detailing standards is an advantage, not a requirement

Curiosity about how the job is changing and a willingness to work with new tools

How we work

Every drawing is self-checked by the person who produced it, then independently checked by a second person before it is issued. We work to written procedures under our QMS, and we expect people to use the tools we are building, question them, and tell us when they are wrong.

Location and hours

This role is full-time, on-site in our Trichy office, working on projects for Australia, the USA, the UK and the Middle East.
