Job Description
Staff Nurse - ICU is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and intensive medical support. The includes patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring critical-care equipment, emergency response, documentation, infection control, and coordination with intensivists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Assess and continuously monitor patient condition and vital signs.
- Monitor cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and other clinical parameters.
- Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, infusions, and treatments.
- Monitor and manage ventilators, infusion pumps, monitors, and other ICU equipment as assigned.
- Assist doctors and intensivists during procedures and clinical interventions.
- Identify deterioration in patient condition and report promptly.
- Maintain accurate ICU charts, nursing notes, and treatment records.
- Monitor intake, output, fluid balance, and other assigned parameters.
- Assist during CPR, resuscitation, and emergency procedures.
- Follow infection-control, isolation, and aseptic practices.
- Maintain ICU equipment, medicines, and emergency supplies.
- Participate in clinical rounds and shift handovers.
- Coordinate with laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments.
- Provide appropriate communication and support to patients families.
- Maintain patient safety, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality-improvement activities.
- Follow ICU protocols, hospital SOPs, and professional nursing standards.
