Job Description
Staff Nurse - Cath Lab is responsible for providing specialized nursing care and procedural support during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. The includes patient preparation, medication administration, monitoring, assisting during procedures, maintaining sterile practices, post-procedure care, and coordination with cardiologists and cath lab staff.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
- Verify patient identity, procedure details, consent, and relevant documentation.
- Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Record vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation, and other clinical parameters.
- Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and emergency medicines.
- Assist cardiologists and cath lab staff during procedures.
- Maintain sterile and aseptic practices during procedures.
- Prepare and maintain required instruments, equipment, and consumables.
- Assist with vascular access and procedure-related activities within scope.
- Monitor patients for complications and adverse reactions.
- Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and medications.
- Assist during cardiac emergencies and resuscitation.
- Provide post-procedure monitoring and nursing care.
- Monitor access sites and report bleeding or other complications promptly.
- Maintain accurate procedure and nursing documentation.
- Coordinate with laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, blood bank, and other departments.
- Follow radiation-safety and infection-control practices.
- Provide appropriate patient and family instructions.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Follow cath lab protocols, hospital SOPs, and nursing standards.
