Job summary

JSW Steel is seeking a Diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering with 4–7 years of experience in mechanical projects, erection and commissioning. You will lead erection activities for heavy machinery, ensure hydraulics are installed per OEM drawings, and coordinate with OEMs for timely delivery and testing.

You will monitor daily site work, manage manpower, and ensure safety standards including JSA, LOTO and toolbox talks are followed during mechanical works.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute.
• 4–7 years of experience in mechanical projects, erection and commissioning.
• Strong hands-on exposure to industrial hydraulic systems is mandatory.
• Knowledge of hydraulics including power packs, pumps, valves and piping.
• Experience in erection/commissioning of heavy machinery like balers, shredders, conveyors.
• Ability to read hydraulic schematics, GA drawings and OEM manuals.
• Experience in contractor management, OEM coordination and trial support.

Responsibilities

• Execute erection, installation and commissioning of equipment such as baler, shredder, hydraulic systems and conveyors.
• Monitor site activities, deploy manpower and track progress to project timelines.
• Coordinate with OEMs/contractors for material deliveries, erection planning and testing.
• Ensure correct installation of pumps, motors, valves, cylinders and piping per OEM drawings.
• Ensure safety per JSW standards, JSA, LOTO and toolbox talks during mechanical works.
• Inspect, store and issue components, ensuring quality and protection of hydraulics.
• Support pre-start safety reviews, close punch points and prepare handover dossiers.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic/mechanical issues during trials and ramp-up with OEMs.

Job description

Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators):

• Execute erection, installation and commissioning of equipment including baler, shredder, hydraulic power packs, cylinders, piping, conveyors and auxiliaries.
• Monitor daily site activities, manpower deployment and progress tracking against approved project timelines; prepare daily/weekly progress reports.
• Coordinate with OEMs & contractors material deliveries & erection plan including hydraulic system flushing, oil filling, pressure testing, trial runs, tuning and stabilization.
• Ensure correct installation of mechanical components such as pumps, motors, valves, accumulators, hoses and piping as per OEM drawings.
• Ensure safe execution of mechanical works through compliance with JSW safety standards, JSA implementation, LOTO and toolbox talks.
• Ensuring proper inspection, storage and issue; ensure quality compliance and protection of critical hydraulic components.
• Support pre‑start‑up safety reviews (PSSR), punch‑point closure, as‑built drawings and preparation of mechanical handover dossiers.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and mechanical issues during trials and ramp‑up in coordination with OEMs.

Educational Background and Work Experience:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute.
• 4–7 years of experience in mechanical projects, erection and commissioning, preferably in scrap, steel or heavy industrial plants.
• Strong hands‑on exposure to industrial hydraulic systems is mandatory
• Strong knowledge of industrial hydraulics including power packs, pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators and hydraulic piping.
• Experience in erection and commissioning of heavy machinery such as balers, shredders, conveyors and material handling equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, GA drawings and OEM manuals.
• Experience in contractor management, OEM coordination and trial support.
• Working knowledge of MS Office & SAP will be an added advantage
