Job summary

Darwinbox Digital Solutions Pvt. Ltd. seeks a Mechanical Engineering professional to lead a steel scrap processing project near Chennai, driving market studies, business case development, approvals, and plant setup.

You will plan capex, identify partners, supervise installation and commissioning, and ensure compliance with engineering standards while coordinating across vendors and internal teams. 5+ years in project execution and supply chain in steel or recycling is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years in project execution and supply chain.
• Experience in business development, sales, or supply chain roles within steel, scrap, recycling, or waste management.
• Knowledge of local and international scrap market regulations and compliance.
• Project planning and execution.
• Site supervision.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing Business Framework for setting up Scrap Collection & Processing Centres.
• Identifying the required technology & infrastructure for the processing units such as equipment, land & plant infra, etc
• Ensureequipment selection and design comply with project specifications and applicable engineering standards
• Preparetechnical specifications, RFQs, BOQs, and equipment datasheets
• Preparetechnical evaluation of mechanical equipment and vendor offers
• Ensureexecution is in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and quality requirements.
• Coordinateday-to-day site activities with civil, electrical, instrumentation, and otherdisciplines
• Carryoutcommissioning, trial runs, and performance testing of mechanical systems
• Monitorproject progress and identify delays, technical risks, and interface issuesand initiate corrective actions
• Takeover the plant for operation post commissioning

As a strategic step towards Sustainability:

JSW Steel has establisheda Steel Recycling Business to cater the growing scrap demand. As part of thisinitiative, the state-of-the-art Scrap Processing Facility of ~0.5 MTPA is plannedin the vicinity of Chennai. This plant encompassing shredding & balingoperations to ensure high-quality scrap supply to the plant in the vicinity ofChennai.

Strengthening the Scrap Supply Chain:

To further secure and enhance scrapavailability, it is imperative to establish collection and processing centresacross strategic locations.

• The role covers the entire value chain - fromconducting comprehensive market studies and building the business case tosecuring requisite approvals, driving plant setup, and managing operationsthereafter.

This includes in-depth market analysis, strongtechnical knowledge, project management skills, and coordination with vendors,contractors, and internal stake holders.

KeyResult Areas (Key Performance Indicators)

• Analyze market for scraptypes, supply-demand dynamics, pricing trends, and regulatory changes inthe Domestic & International Market
• Identify, evaluate,and onboard partners (yards, aggregators, dismantlers, OEMs, logistics)for obsolete and prompt scrap.
• Identifying requiredtechnologies & infrastructure, Prepare capex, business case, boardnotes, and evaluate land/locations for setting up scrap processingcentres.
• Plan and execute projectsaccording to approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
• Superviseinstallation, testing, and commissioning activities.
