Job summary

UCAM in Bangalore invites an experienced Sr. Manager-Machine Shop to lead a high-precision manufacturing cell. With 13+ years in managing 5-axis machines like Hermle/DMU, you will drive scheduling, tool life monitoring, and process improvement to achieve sub-5 micron bore accuracy and high OEE.

You will mentor PED engineers and operators, negotiate tooling and machine supplier contracts, and champion lean concepts across the plant while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 13+ years of machining and shop floor leadership.
• Experience with 5-axis machines Hermle/DMU.
• Proven ability to plan and schedule workloads.
• Strong knowledge of metrology and process control.

Responsibilities

• Lead scheduling of multi-axis CNC workcells to meet demand.
• Drive 5 micron bore accuracy through fixture and process control.
• Mentor PED engineers and operators; conduct training.
• Negotiate tooling and machine supplier agreements.
• Implement lean concepts and monitor OEE.

Technical Knowledge:Managed 5 axis machines like Hermle and DMU Series Tool balancing
How to achieve 5 microns bore accuracy Fixture flatness - good knowledge of fixtures Turning function of 5 axis machines RFID in tools and tool life monitoring ZPS Systems and benefits Surface, rotary and cylindrical grinding knowledge.
He should have set up alerts when machine is down or tool breakage CAD/CAM and Gode verification like Vericut and 3D scanning to integrate to programming Metrology understanding of probing vs CMM verification Grinding process knowledge and basic programming knowledge What is a tool and what is a rake angle and relief angle Material Knowledge - What is steel , high carbon steel and hardness and heat treatment
Managerial Knowledge
How to schedule machines when Demand is higher than capacity How should be able to align team for company goals and motivate the team and inspire the team during crisis situation - Team Builder He should have negotiation skills for tooling suppliers and machine suppliers - 5L + to 10Cr Training skills and coaching of PED Engineers and Operators and setters Maintenance knowledge of HMC and 5 axis machines Material Flow and lean concepts and bottleneck concepts Productivity concepts and OEE Learning Agility
