Job summary

Tata Communications in Maharashtra, India, seeks a Senior Server Engineer for IT Operations & Infrastructure to provide L3 support for servers, storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms. You will lead upgrades, migrations, and technology refreshes while ensuring security, backups, and audit readiness.

Ideal candidates bring 4–8 years in enterprise environments, strong VMware and AWS experience, and scripting skills.

Qualifications

4–8 years in enterprise server & storage environments.
Experience with VMware VCP 6.x/7.x and AWS Associate level.
Strong scripting in PowerShell and Shell.
Deep knowledge of SAN/LUN management on HPE systems and VMware cluster design.
Windows/Linux patching and backup software experience.

Responsibilities

Administer Windows Server and Linux environments at enterprise scale.
VMware ESXi/vSphere administration including cluster/HA/DR features; KVM for Linux virtualization.
Manage HPE SAN storage provisioning, zoning, capacity monitoring and performance tuning.
AWS administration: EC2, S3, IAM; security controls & resource optimization.
Manage security: patching, OS/hypervisor hardening, vulnerability remediation per findings.
Backups and DR: manage NetBackup/Commvault or Veeam schedules, validate restores, run DR tests.
Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, migrations and technology refreshes.
Author documentation: HLD/LLD, SOP, runbooks; assist audit & compliance (SOX, PCI, ISO 27001).
Mentor junior engineers; coordinate with OEMs (VMware, HPE, AWS).

Senior Server Engineer – IT Operations & Infrastructure

Purpose Of Role

Provide L3 support and technical ownership for servers (Windows & Linux), SAN/storage (HPE), virtualization (VMware/KVM) and cloud (AWS) platforms. Lead project upgrades, migrations and technology refreshes.

Key Responsibilities

Administer Windows Server & Linux environments at enterprise scale.
VMware ESXi/vSphere administration including all cluster/HA/DR features; KVM administration for Linux virtualization.
Storage (HPE SAN) management: LUN provisioning, SAN zoning, capacity monitoring and performance tuning.
AWS administration: resource provisioning (EC2, S3, IAM), security controls & resource optimization.
Manage security: patch management, OS & hypervisor hardening, vulnerability/PT remediation per Pentest findings.
Backups & DR: manage NetBackup/Commvault or Veeam schedules, validate restores, execute DR tests.
Plan & execute infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh initiatives.
Author documentation: HLD/LLD, SOP, runbooks; assist audit & compliance (SOX, PCI, ISO 27001 as applicable).
Mentor junior engineers; coordinate with OEM (VMware, HPE, AWS) and 3rd-party service partners.

Required Experience & Skills

4–8 years in enterprise server & storage environments, VMware VCP 6.x/7.x, AWS (Associate level experience), strong scripting (PowerShell/Shell).
Deep knowledge of SAN/LUN management on HPE systems, VMware cluster design, Windows/Linux patching.
Experience in backup software and cloud security domains.
Troubleshooting / RCA skills for complex multi-tier applications.
