Job summary

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Chennai invites a skilled engineer to design and develop Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) based on customer requirements. You will create 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks, and prepare 2D fabrication drawings with AutoCAD.

The role requires strong knowledge of machine design, GD&T, and integration of pneumatic and automation components. You will collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to deliver complete solutions and support

Qualifications

• Mandatory Experience in Special Purpose Machine (SPM) Design.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Machine Design, GD&T, Manufacturing Drawings, and Assembly Design.
• Experience in Pneumatic Systems, Material Handling, Conveyors, and Automation Equipment.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and mechanical component selection.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) based on customer requirements.
• Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Prepare 2D fabrication and assembly drawings using AutoCAD.
• Design machine structures, fixtures, conveyors, and automation mechanisms.
• Select and integrate standard mechanical components such as Linear Guides, Ball Screws, Bearings, Gearboxes, Pneumatic Cylinders, Servo Systems, and Motors.
• Prepare BOM and engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with Electrical, PLC, and Controls Engineers for complete machine integration.
• Support prototype assembly, testing, machine trials, and commissioning activities.
• Resolve design and manufacturing issues while ensuring quality and timely project delivery.
