Job summary

Harness Renewables in Bengaluru seeks a technically skilled Solar & BESS Design Engineer with 6+ years of experience to design rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems, BOQs and electrical layouts, including BESS integration.

Responsibilities include creating layouts, performing feasibility analyses, and coordinating with procurement to finalize designs for execution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of solar PV design and simulation experience.
• Exposure to BESS sizing and design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst, MS Excel and basic electrical design tools.
• Understanding of PV modules, inverters and BoS components.

• Create solar PV system designs including array layout, SLDs and energy yield reports.
• Use AutoCAD, PVsyst and Helioscope to simulate and validate designs.
• Prepare accurate BOMs/BOQs and project documentation for execution.
• Perform site feasibility analysis using survey data, satellite imagery and shading analysis.
• Coordinate with procurement and project teams for design validation and updates.
• Optimize system performance by proposing efficient component placement and sizing.
• Design and size BESS (capacity, C-rate, PCS/inverter, AC/DC coupling).
• Support techno-commercial evaluation of hybrid solar-plus-storage proposals.

Job description

The candidate should have 6+ years of experience in preparing rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV system designs, BOQs, and electrical layouts (including BESS) using industry-standard tools and software.

What you will do

• Create solar PV system designs including array layout, SLDs, and energy yield reports.
• Use software tools such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Helioscope to simulate and validate designs.
• Prepare accurate BOMs/BOQs and project documentation for execution.
• Perform site feasibility analysis using survey data, satellite imagery, and shading analysis.
• Coordinate with procurement and project teams for design validation and updates.

What we need

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in solar PV design and simulation, including exposure to BESS sizing and design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, MS Excel, and basic electrical design tools.
• Understanding of PV modules, inverters, and BoS components.
• Ability to analyze site conditions and prepare layout plans accordingly.
• Working knowledge of BESS fundamentals: chemistry, C-rate, DoD, and PCS integration.

Helpful, but not essential

• Experience designing for both on-grid and off-grid systems.
• Familiarity with DISCOM regulations and MNRE technical standards.
• Prior experience in net-metered or hybrid solar systems.
• Prior BESS design experience and familiarity with IEC 62619/62933, NFPA 855, UL 9540.
