Job summary

The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of software licensing, ELP and compliance analysis, and experience with ServiceNow SAM, Snow or Flexera, plus hands-on familiarity with SCCM/MECM, Intune, Jamf, and CMDB.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) Analysts to manage day-to-day SAM operations across software inventory, entitlement management, license reconciliation, compliance, optimization, renewals, and reporting.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Software Asset Management operations, software licensing concepts, entitlement management, reconciliation, and license optimization within a large enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day activities across the end-to-end SAM lifecycle.
• Review software inventory data from SCCM/MECM, Intune, Jamf, CMDB, cloud and SaaS platforms.
• Validate software installations, usage, users, devices, ownership, and deployment information.
• Perform software normalization and maintain accurate product, publisher, edition, and version information.
• Collect, validate, and maintain software license entitlements from contracts, POs, invoices, license certificates, and publisher portals.
• Perform license reconciliation and investigate reconciliation exceptions.
• Conduct Effective License Position (ELP) and software compliance analysis.
• Identify over-licensed and under-licensed software products.
• Identify unused or underutilized licenses and drive license harvesting, reclamation, reuse, transfer, and right-sizing.
• Support software renewals through entitlement, consumption, utilization, and forecast analysis.
• Support true-up exercises, compliance assessments, publisher/vendor reviews, and software audits.
• Validate software requests against available licenses before initiating new procurement.
• Perform data-quality checks and resolve inventory and entitlement discrepancies.
• Monitor SAM operational queues, incidents, service requests, exceptions, and ageing items.
• Generate operational, compliance, optimization, and management reports.
• Maintain SAM documentation, runbooks, knowledge articles, and work instructions.
• Work with SAM Process and Tool teams on continuous improvement and automation opportunities.

Top Technical Must-Haves

• Strong hands-on experience in Software Asset Management (SAM) operations.
• Experience in software inventory validation and normalization.
• Strong knowledge of software licensing and entitlement management.
• Hands-on experience in license reconciliation, ELP, and compliance analysis.
• Experience/exposure to ServiceNow SAM / Snow / Flexera and inventory sources such as SCCM/MECM, Intune, Jamf, and CMDB.

Functional / Operational Must-Haves

• Strong experience managing day-to-day end-to-end SAM operations.
• Experience performing Effective License Position (ELP) and compliance assessments.
• Experience with license optimization, reclamation, harvesting, reuse, and right-sizing.
• Experience supporting software renewals, true-ups, compliance reviews, and audits.
• Ability to manage SAM queues, SLA ageing, data quality, exceptions, and operational reporting.

Preferred Profile

• 7-10 years of relevant experience in SAM / ITAM / Software License Management.
• Experience working in a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Exposure to ServiceNow SAM, Snow, or Flexera is preferred.
• Strong analytical and data-management capabilities.
• Good understanding of software licensing and compliance concepts.
• Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work with SAM process, procurement, technical, application, and infrastructure teams.
