Job summary

SGS India is seeking an experienced Smart Metering Expert to lead metering projects in power distribution, including AMR, AMI and Smart Metering implementations.

The candidate should have hands-on experience in system metering, energy accounting, field quality management, and third-party inspections, ensuring technical compliance of metering materials.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering is required.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in the power distribution sector, specifically metering projects.
• Experience in AMR, AMI, or Smart Metering projects under DDUGJY, R-APDRP, IPDS or similar schemes.
• Experience in at least 3 AMR/AMI/Smart Metering projects and in 2 projects involving system metering and energy accounting.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for smart metering and distribution projects under national schemes.
• Manage metering projects involving consumers, DTs, and feeders.
• Coordinate AMR/AMI/Smart Metering implementations and ensure data accuracy in metering systems.
• Oversee system metering and energy accounting activities and ensure reliable metering data.
• Investigate and resolve field-level quality issues related to metering equipment.
• Coordinate with inspectors for third-party inspections and ensure compliance of metering materials.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Smart Metering Expert with strong expertise in power distribution projects, including AMR, AMI, and Smart Metering implementations. The candidate should have hands-on experience in system metering, energy accounting, field quality management, third-party inspections, and technical compliance of metering materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for smart metering and power distribution projects under schemes such as DDUGJY, R-APDRP, and IPDS.
• Manage and monitor metering projects involving consumers, distribution transformers (DTs), and feeders.
• Handle implementation and technical coordination of AMR (Automated Meter Reading), AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), and Smart Metering systems.
• Manage system metering and energy accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and reliability of metering data.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve field-level quality issues related to metering installations and equipment.
• Coordinate and conduct third-party inspections of metering projects and associated materials.
• Assist in the inspection and verification of electrical meters and other materials used in metering projects.
Review technical specifications and ensure compliance of metering materials with applicable standards and project requirements.
• Identify and resolve technical non-compliance issues related to meters, metering systems, and associated equipment.
• Coordinate with project teams, utilities, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure quality and timely project execution.
• Prepare technical inspection reports, quality documentation, and compliance reports.

Required Skills & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in the power distribution sector, specifically in metering-related projects.
• Experience in AMR, AMI, or Smart Metering projects under DDUGJY, R-APDRP, IPDS, or similar power distribution schemes.
• Experience in at least 3 AMR / AMI / Smart Metering projects.
• Experience in at least 2 projects involving system metering and energy accounting.
• Hands-on experience in field quality issues, third-party inspections, and meter material inspections.
• Strong understanding of technical specifications and material compliance requirements for metering projects.
• Good technical documentation, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of AMI-based metering systems and their integration.
• Experience working with power distribution utilities and smart metering implementation agencies.
• Familiarity with meter testing, quality assurance, inspection procedures, and applicable technical standards.
