Job summary

JSW Steel in Rajpura is seeking a Shift Incharge – Electrical to lead the shift electrical maintenance team and ensure uninterrupted operation of downstream steel lines. You will manage preventive/ breakdown maintenance, supervise manpower, and drive safety and reliability initiatives.

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Diploma with relevant experience.
• 5–10 years of electrical maintenance experience in steel manufacturing or continuous process industries.
• Minimum 2–3 years in shift handling in downstream steel plants preferred.

Responsibilities

• Shift Operations: ensure smooth electrical system operation during the shift.
• Attend electrical breakdowns promptly and restore equipment within targeted downtime.
• Coordinate with Production, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Utility teams for seamless plant operations.
• Ensure proper shift handover and maintain detailed shift logs.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all electrical equipment.
• Monitor health of motors, drives, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, UPS, DG sets, and electrical panels.
• Ensure timely inspection, testing, and maintenance of critical electrical assets.
• Troubleshoot PLC, VFD, servo drives, sensors, HMI, and field electrical equipment.
• Minimize downtime through effective troubleshooting and resource management.
• Implement LOTO, PTW, and electrical isolation procedures; conduct toolbox talks and ensure PPE usage.
• Participate in safety audits and incident investigations.
• Supervise shift electricians and contract manpower; allocate work and monitor execution.
• Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance; evaluate contractor performance.

Job Purpose

To ensure uninterrupted operation of downstream steel manufacturing lines by effectively managing electrical maintenance activities during the shift, minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring safety compliance, and leading the shift electrical team to achieve production and maintenance objectives.

• Shift Operations
