Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Diploma with relevant experience.
• 5–10 years of electrical maintenance in a steel or continuous process industry.
• 2–3 years of shift handling experience in downstream steel plants preferred.
• Electrical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis experience.
• PLC and VFD knowledge; HT/LT maintenance exposure.
• SAP/CMMS knowledge; familiarity with LOTO and PTW procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate electrical systems during the assigned shift with minimal downtime.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC, VFD, sensors, HMI, and field electrical equipment; analyze root causes.
• Ensure safety compliance with electrical standards and implement LOTO/PTW.
• Supervise shift electricians and contract manpower; maintain logs and reports.
• Drive reliability improvements via RCA, Kaizen, TPM, and efficiency initiatives.
• Maintain SAP/CMMS records; monitor spare parts and energy consumption.

JobPurpose

To ensureuninterrupted operation of downstream steel manufacturing lines by effectivelymanaging electrical maintenance activities during the shift, minimizingequipment downtime, ensuring safety compliance, and leading the shiftelectrical team to achieve production and maintenance objectives.

KeyResponsibilities

1.Shift Operations

• Ensure smoothoperation of all electrical systems during the assigned shift.
• Attend electricalbreakdowns promptly and restore equipment within targeted downtime.
• Coordinate withProduction, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Utility teams for seamlessplant operations.
• Ensure proper shifthandover and maintain detailed shift logs.

2.Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Execute preventiveand predictive maintenance schedules for all electrical equipment.
• Monitor the health ofmotors, drives, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, UPS, DG sets, andelectrical panels.
• Ensure timelyinspection, testing, and maintenance of critical electrical assets.

3.Breakdown Maintenance

• Analyze root causesof electrical failures and implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot PLC,VFD, servo drives, sensors, HMI, and field electrical equipment.
• Minimize downtimethrough effective troubleshooting and resource management.

4.Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliancewith electrical safety standards, statutory regulations, and companysafety procedures.
• ImplementLockout-Tagout (LOTO), Permit-to-Work (PTW), and electrical isolationprocedures.
• Conduct safetytoolbox talks and ensure the use of appropriate PPE.
• Participate in safetyaudits and incident investigations.

5.Team Management

• Supervise shiftelectricians and contract manpower.
• Allocate work,monitor execution, and ensure adherence to maintenance standards.
• Provide on-the-jobtraining and technical guidance to team members.
• Evaluate contractorperformance and ensure work quality.

6.Reliability Improvement

• Identify recurringequipment failures and implement reliability improvement initiatives.
• Participate in RootCause Analysis (RCA), Kaizen, TPM, and continuous improvement projects.
• Recommend equipmentmodifications to improve reliability and energy efficiency.

7.Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain maintenancerecords, equipment history, breakdown reports, and shift reports.
• Update maintenanceactivities in SAP/CMMS.
• Monitor spare partsconsumption and raise material requisitions.
• Monitor electricalpower consumption and recommend energy-saving initiatives.
• Ensure efficientutilization of electrical resources.
