Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Monitoring: continuously monitor server health, availability, and performance using enterprise tools.
• Incident Management: log, categorize, and troubleshoot Level 1 incidents; restore services and escalate as needed.
• Windows & Active Directory Support: handle user accounts, password resets, and basic server health checks; escalate advanced issues.
• Linux Operations: monitor Linux servers, check service status and logs; perform approved restarts.
• Virtualization Support: monitor VM availability and resource usage; perform basic recovery and escalate hypervisor issues.
• Storage & Backup: track storage health and backup jobs; perform authorized recovery and escalate failures.
• Network Diagnostics: perform basic connectivity checks and validate infrastructure; escalate complex network issues.

A Server L1 Engineer is the frontline support role responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining server infrastructure, handling routine incidents, and escalating complex issues to higher levels. They ensure operational continuity by performing initial diagnostics, executing SOPs, and supporting both Windows and Linux environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Monitoring Continuously monitor server health, availability, and performance using enterprise tools. Detect alerts, validate service availability, and initiate incident notifications.
• Incident Management Log, categorize, and troubleshoot Level 1 incidents using SOPs. Restore services where possible and elevate unresolved issues to L2/L3 teams with documentation.
• Windows & Active Directory Support Handle user account administration, password resets, account unlocks, and basic server health checks. Escalate advanced issues to specialized teams.
• Linux Operations Monitor Linux server availability, service status, and logs. Perform approved restarts and elevate OS issues beyond standard support.
• Virtualization Support Monitor VM availability and resource utilization. Perform basic recovery and elevate hypervisor-related issues.
• Storage & Backup Track storage health, capacity, and backup job execution. Perform authorized recovery actions and elevate failures.
• Network Diagnostics Conduct basic connectivity checks and infrastructure validation. Escalate complex network issues.
