Job summary

The Indus Valley is seeking a SEO Senior Associate / Specialist (Shopify) to own and scale organic search performance for our Shopify storefront. You will drive qualified traffic, improve search visibility for the product catalog, and optimize the on-site experience to convert browsers into buyers.

This is a hands-on role for someone who lives and breathes SEO, understands ecommerce search behavior, and translates keyword data into revenue.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years hands-on SEO experience with ecommerce impact.
• Strong technical, on-page and link-building fundamentals.
• Proven track record of growing organic traffic and revenue for a D2C brand.
• Working knowledge of Shopify Liquid and platform constraints.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an SEO roadmap for the Shopify store including technical, onpage, and off-page strategies.
• Conduct comprehensive keyword research for cookware, kitchen, and home categories.
• Improve site structure, internal linking and topical authority to boost rankings.
• Optimize product, collection and landing pages for search and conversion.
• Own SEO analytics and reporting across GA4, GSC, Ahrefs/SEMrush and Shopify analytics.
• Lead content collaboration and outreach for high-quality backlinks.

SEO Senior Associate / Specialist (Shopify)

About the Role

We're looking for a SEO Senior Associate / Specialist who can own and scale our organic search performance on our Shopify storefront. You will be responsible for driving qualified traffic, improving search visibility for our product catalog, and optimizing the on‑site experience to convert browsers into buyers. This is a hands‑on role for someone who lives and breathes SEO, understands the nuances of e‑commerce search behavior, and can translate keyword data into revenue.

Key Responsibilities

SEO Strategy & Execution

• Develop and execute a comprehensive SEO roadmap covering technical, on‑page and off‑page SEO for the Shopify store.
• Conduct keyword research specific to cookware, kitchen, and home categories—including commercial, informational and long‑tail intent.
• Drive organic growth through content strategy, internal linking, and topical authority building.
• Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals, crawlability, indexation and site architecture.

Shopify Product & Page Optimization

• Optimize product listings (titles, meta descriptions, product copy, image alt‑text, schema markup, URL structure) for search and conversion.
• Build and optimize collection pages, category pages, and landing pages—including seasonal and campaign‑specific pages (e.g., festive cookware, gifting, non‑stick category).
• Implement structured data (Product, Review, FAQ, Breadcrumb schemas) using Shopify‑native tools or apps like Schema Plus, JSON‑LD for SEO, or custom Liquid edits.
• Manage and optimize Shopify‑specific SEO elements: handles, canonical tags, sitemap.xml, robots.txt and 301 redirects during catalog changes.

Landing Page & CRO Support

• Design SEO‑First landing pages that rank and convert—strong understanding of search intent matched to page layout, copy hierarchy, and CTAs.
• Work with the design and content teams to A/B test landing page variants and improve organic conversion rates.

Analytics & Reporting

• Own SEO reporting using GA4, Google Search Console, Ahrefs/SEMrush/Screaming Frog and Shopify analytics.
• Track and report on rankings, traffic, CTR, conversions and revenue contribution from organic search.

Content & Link Building

• Collaborate with content writers on blogs, recipe content, buying guides and product education content that supports SEO goals.
• Run outreach and digital PR campaigns to build high‑quality backlinks from food, lifestyle and home publications.

Must‑Have Skills

• 5-7 years of hands‑on SEO experience, with at least 12 years on a Shopify e‑commerce store.
• Strong grasp of technical SEO, on‑page SEO, and link‑building fundamentals.
• Proven track record of growing organic traffic and revenue for a D2C or e‑commerce brand.
• Working knowledge of Shopify Liquid basics, Shopify SEO apps, and platform‑specific limitations (e.g., URL structures, duplicate content from filters).
• Proficient with GA4, Google Search Console, Ahrefs/SEMrush, Screaming Frog.
• Solid understanding of schema markup, Core Web Vitals, and mobile‑first indexing.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Added Advantage

Working knowledge of LLMs and AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) for SEO workflows using AI to scale keyword research, draft optimized product descriptions, generate content briefs, and adapt to emerging trends in AI‑driven search (AI Overviews, generative engine optimization / GEO).
