The Manager Production is responsible for leading day‑to‑day production activities, including manufacturing operations, shopfloor management, production schedule, manpower management, shift planning, maintenance, plant utility, work order completion, quality assurance, achieving yield targets, scrap control, and supporting implementation of lean concepts. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient production performance across plant KPIs, assigned areas, while strengthening production processes, manpower capability, enhancing output and efficiency with cross‑functional team alignment, and driving continuous improvement.
This position plays a key role in ensuring that production operations deliver effectively to the site’s broader objectives in revenue, safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC), with a strong emphasis on lean principles, operational discipline, and collaboration.
Key Objectives
- To ensure strong coordination between production, logistics, material preparation, maintenance & quality control.
- To deliver stable and high‑quality production output every day target at high efficiency in alignment with customer and business requirements.
- To promote a culture of plant safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- To support organizational capability by developing supervisors, line leaders, and other key roles.
- Need to provide comprehensive and reliable data for production‑related decision‑making.
- To enhance process stability, equipment reliability, and material flow effectiveness.
Duties & Responsibilities
Production Management & Daily Operations
- To drive daily production operations & ensure smooth, efficient, and high‑quality output, provide strong leadership to line leaders, supervisors and quality personnel.
- Responsible for production scheduling, shift planning, weekly/monthly schedule production calendar, festival work planning in view of efficiency enhancement.
- Managing DL count & ensuring target efficiency achieved daily/weekly/monthly.
- Overall resource planning, including capacity, materials, equipment, jig/fixtures, work instructions, electricity & AC maintenance.
- Production Performance & Reporting: To monitor production KPI, also submit detailed, accurate, timely reporting.
- To manage adherence to production budgets and resource utilization targets.
- To drive scrap reduction, and productivity improvement.
- Safety, Quality & Compliance: To uphold and enforce all safety regulatory compliance, procedures, best practices.
- To ensure adherence to quality standards, in‑process controls, and collaborate with quality team on defining RCA & CAPAC with target date & ownership.
- Continuous Improvement & Lean Implementation: To drive lean practices, waste elimination, Kaizen, 5S, standard work, visual management in shopfloor, deploy culture of continuous improvement daily.
- To empower yield improvement, process optimization, cycle time reduction.
- To enhance efficiency of production process workflow & material storage/movement.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- To closely work with all supporting functional teams to achieve production continuity.
- To get best support from engineering and maintenance for equipment efficiency/lower downtime, higher output, preventive maintenance, and process stability.
- To participate in cross‑functional projects to enhance site performance and efficiency.
- People Leadership & Development: To build a cordial relationship with all team members, maintain proper bonding, intent to create high‑performing team through mentoring, coaching and structured performance assessment & monitoring.
- To develop leadership capability among supervisors and line leaders, foster a culture of teamwork, recognize accountability, and continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Production) or a related field.
- Language: Mandatory to be Tamil speaking local candidate with good English skills.
- 12+ years of overall experience in manufacturing industry including mandatory 7+ years in electronics industry.
- 8+ years of experience in shopfloor management/production & manpower planning/leadership of 100+ team size with shift operations 24hrs x 6 days. Also 3+ years of experience handling quality assurance activities added advantage.
- Experience with ERP systems, data‑driven decision‑making, lean methodologies/CIP.
